The New Kid

Mackenzie's POV

"What do you think you're doing back here? Sweety I specifically told you to never come back here again when summer was over."

I snapped and let go of Hayes hand. I moved closer to Ariana.

"And who thinks you can tell me what to do, huh? I never was given a boss to control what I do." I crossed my arms and stood there for a second.

A whole crowd gathered around. There were students with their phones out taking pictures and videos.

"And you know what Ariana? I'm so tired of you're bullshit. Telling me what you think I should do. Telling me what you think of me. Telling people fake rumors about me. But you know what? I'm going to put my foot down this time! I won't stand for ANY of your fake crap this year."

Before she could answer the bell rung. I spun around, held Hayes hand again and we walked to our homerooms.

As soon as I walked into my homeroom I noticed that I was the last person to get there. Everybody turned and looked at me. I gave a small smile and found the last empty seat open in the back of the room.

When I sat down I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turned to see a handsome brown haired boy next to me. He smiled a bit.

"Hi! I'm new here. My name is Joshua but you can call me Josh."

I nodded. "Well hello there Josh! I'm Mackenzie and you can call me Kenzie. So where did you move here from?"

I hadn't noticed the teacher had started talking.

"I came here from Arizona. It's nice here in North Carolina! I like it so far."

I had opened my mouth to answer but that's when the teacher began to yell at us.

"Josh and Mackenzie why don't you pay attention? Or would you like some time down in the office?" When she turned around I rolled my eyes and Josh laughed under his breath.

The rest of homeroom was all about rules and routines. Blah blah blah.

The teacher walked up to where Josh and I were sitting. "Since you seem to take a liking in Josh here, why don't you show him to all of his classes. You guys have all the same classes together."

I looked at him and smiled. "Okay I will!"

Our first class together was ELA. Hayes appeared to be in that class to.

As soon as I walked in with Josh, Hayes waved for my to come sit next to him. There were two empty seats on his right.

Just as I was about to take the seat next to him, Ariana slams her books down on the desk. She smirked.

Hayes rolled his eyes. "Oh hey there Hayes! How are you?" She fake smiled and began curling her hair around her finger.

"She's the school bitch. Want to sit here?" I pointed to the back corner of the room.

Josh nodded and we sat. Hayes turned around in his chair. He mouthed the words "help me!"

I shrugged. "I'm sorry," I mouthed back.

The teacher appeared to be talking to another teacher.

Josh looked at me. "So is that like your boyfriend or something? If not then he seems to really like you!" He wiggled his eyebrows at me.

A little laugh left my lips. "Yeah. But we've had a lot of ups and downs lately. I don't think that we'll last much longer."

Josh had a little spark in his eye for a second.

"O-oh sorry that I asked. I shouldn't have asked because you're to pretty to be single. Stupid me haha." He blushed a bit.

I bit my lip. "You must have a few admirers yourself. I must admit, you are attractive."

He laughed and ran a hand through his hair. "I wasn't a lady killer where I came from. Hard to believe huh?"

We both laughed.

This could turn out to be a good year!
