Louder than she intended, Emma slammed the door to her room shut. She fell down on her bed and let her tears fall.
Her thoughts were going crazy.
She was mad at herlsef for crying so much. Mad at herself for running away from Regina. Just mad at herself.
She had never met anyone like Regina. The psychologist took care of her when she needed it most. She seemed to get how it felt to be abused. She seemed to understand.
And that's what counted.
She didn't look at her with pity but with understanding.
Then there were Mary Margaret and David, who gave her a place to stay without questioning. They took care of her and were the nicest parents she had so far. Of course, the blonde knew she shouldn't get used to them. Shouldn't get used to being in such a nice family.
Once they would find out where she was from, they'd probably send her back or drive her to the nearest orphanage. They'd just forget about her like all the others did. And then, she won't see any of them ever again.
Just by thinking about never seeing Regina again, more tears escaped her eyes. Never seeing those smooth dark hair again. Never seeing those red plump lips again. Never seeing those gorgeous big brown orbs again. Never seeing the sparkle of understanding in them ever again.
A loud sob escaped the girls throat and only seconds later a slight knock awoke the girl from her thoughts. She forced herself to be quiet.
"Emma? I am sorry! I didn't want to scare you or make you tell me something you're not ready for. I'm just worried about you" The blonde couldn't stop the quiet sob escaping her throat and thus interrupted the soft voice outside the door.
"Please, Emma. I won't come in. I promised that, but please come outside and talk to me. I'm sorry!"
The blonde stayed on the bed and didn't move. It was quiet for a few minutes and Emma thought, Regina had gone away, but just then the girl heard the hoarse voice again. "Please Emma. Don't push me away... I'll go downstairs. Please come and talk to me when you are ready" the voice sounded sad and not self confident at all anymore. It broke Emmas heart but she just couldn't give in.
She heard footsteps going farther and farther away from the door, and knew, she was alone again. The tears rolled down her cheeks and she angrily tried to wipe them away. But knew tears just didn't stop falling.
Emma sat on her bed for several hours, thinking about everything that had happened yesterday. Running away, David finding her, Regina looking after her, Mary Magaret giving her a place to stay and much more. She began feeling guilty for running away from Regina. After an eternity she decided to go downstairs. Even if she was afraid of what would expect her down there.
As she came down she could see Regina standing in the kitchen. The brunette just pushed something into the stove and turned around quickly as the wooden floor creaked under Emmas weight. The blonde stood there like petrified, as the brunette eyed her. A small smile, which took Emmas breath away, formed on her lips as she turned to towards the stove again.
"I hope you like pizza. It'll be ready in about 20 minutes" She turned around and winked at the blonde, causing her to blush.
The woman approached her, took the blondes arm and pulled her towards the couch. She let go and sat down, leaving Emma to stand there looking lost.
After a while, Regina gently tapped onto the leather next to her, silently telling Emma to sit down. She sat down further away from the brunette, pulled her legs up and hugged her knees. Then, she just stared at the woman, feeling uncomfortable.
"You know we'll have to talk about it eventually, don't you? It's okay if you're not ready yet, but Emma, ... you should know that you can tell me everything. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable and I don't want to force you to tell me something you're not ready for! " Emma raised her gaze and met the brunettes eyes. For a moment she just looked into them and a moment Later, she moved closer to Regina and leaned against her shoulder. Feeling the arm of the older woman, squeezing her slightly, causing her to smile.
"Thank you, 'Gina!' Emma said, barely audible.
Regina put her head on Emmas shoulder and for the first time since her parents accident, Emma felt safe again.
When the blonde noticed a slightly burned smell, Regina suddenly jumped up.
"The pizza!" She shouted as she ran into the kitchen. Emma slowly walked after her and when she arrived in the kitchen, she found a pouting Regina standing in front of the burned pizza, starring at it angrily.
"I'd will taste delicious anyways." Emma tried to lighten the mood. Regina smiled at her, trying to hide her disappointment.
"No, I'll cook you something else"
Emma did not hesitate at all as she took a plate and placed the pizza on it. Determined, she went to the table, sat down and took a slice of pizza into her hand.
"Emma...", Regina tried to stop the blonde but Emma already took a big bite.
"Mmmh, it's definitely better than what I've gotten the last few years," Emma tried to cheer her up. Regina also came to the dining room and sat down next to the girl.
"Oh kid, I could have cooked something else for you," she said as she took a slice too.
When the whole pizza was gone and they were both fed up, Regina turned to Emma and said, "So, I had an idea earlier. It's only 3 o'clock, which means Mary Magaret is gone for at least another four hours. Do you want to go shopping? You need something to wear, right? "
She winked at Emma and the blonde replied immediately: "Uh ... I can't. I spent all my money on the bus trip here. "
"Emma, you won't pay for it yourself! Let's look at it like a small welcome gift."
Tomorrow, I'll have my second day of some kind of internship and I'm sooo nervouse! They already want me to do stuff.😵😂 So instead of prepering for that, I wrote another chapter. 👍Hope you all enjoy it ☺
