"How come Lucas was at your hotel this morning?" Amybeth questioned with a suggestive smirk tugging at her lips. It was obvious to see that she was a little surprised to find it wasn't just me her mother needed to collect from the hotel that morning, and she could barely keep the raging question to herself before the two of us were alone in my trailer.
"It's a long story, but it includes: face masks, The Incredibles, and a painful midnight wake-up call." I shrugged with an expression that mirrored her own. "Nothing happened, if that's what your implying."
"Well you both looked a lot happier this morning compared to anyone else on set... It must've been a good night."
I quickly gazed over at Amybeth, who was now slowly adjusting her bonnet in the mirror. She was wearing the same goofy grin as she did when Lucas and I first appeared in the lobby together.
"You're never going to forget about it, are you?" I playfully rolled my eyes, causing her to spin around faster than I was prepared for.
"You've got that right!" She yelled with laughter, grabbing ahold of my hand in the process. "But I'll let you off with it for now, AJ is wanting us to go to his trailer before we start filming."
"AJ?" I frowned as I felt the red-headed girl urgently tug at my arm.
"Aymeric Jett... Or Croissant, as I also like to call him."
The walk to Aymeric's trailer took a lot longer than I had expected, considering how fast Amybeth was dragging me around the set while keeping up an unnatural pace.
Gently tapping on the trailer door, a soft 'come in' confirmed for us to enter, revealing Aymeric as he sat in his costume on one of the two sofas.
"Hello, ladies." He smiled politely, watching as I closed the door behind Amybeth after she had forcefully pushed me inside. "I'm doing a livestream, do you guys want to be in it?"
"Sure." Amybeth nodded, taking a seat beside him. I opted to sit opposite the pair, just incase anyone on the livestream recognised me and decided to spread the usual hate.
Yes, that was still on my mind.
"Hey, it's Anne!" Amybeth waved into the iPhone's camera, then paused to read a few of the comments. "Yes, we will be attending Wonderland this year. Are any of you guys going?"
"Wonderland?" I whispered to anyone who was listening, silently questioning what exactly 'wonderland' was and why it was named after a mythical world containing blue caterpillars and grinning cats.
"It's a big party we have every year," Aymeric explained while Amybeth took ahold of the phone and continued to chat to her viewers. "It's a chance for some of the fans to meet the cast."
"I see..." I pouted thoughtfully. "Am I invited?"
The boy chuckled as he reached across to turn up the thermostat.
"Of course, you're apart of the team." He smiled, and I returned the gesture. "You have a cool accent by the way - you should hang around with us more often."
I laughed shyly at the suggestion and nodded, making Aymeric's face lift with satisfaction.
Just as he was about to say something else, another knock on the door interjected.
"One second, friends." Amybeth smiled down towards the phone and waited for Aymeric to call out his usual 'come in'.
The door opened to reveal a member of the production team standing with a large duffle coat and an umbrella.
"Haven't you guys got a job to do?" She playfully scolded the three of us, holding the umbrella as if it were a weapon. "You're not getting paid for nothing!"
"We'll be out in a few minutes," Aymeric smiled innocently before standing up and heading towards the kitchen. "Does anyone want a Maynard?"
"A what?" Amybeth raised a brow, and I had never seen Aymeric express such a look of disgust more than I had in that moment.
"A Maynard... You know, Maynard Wine Gums?" He explained slowly, his jaw dropping with horror as the girl shook her head. "How are we even friends?"
***
A/N I watched Amybeth's livestream with Aymeric, and she kept calling him 'AJ', and explained that she liked to call him 'Croissant' whilst he wasn't around (perhaps it's in the series too)... Hence the references in this chapter!
