Chapter 117

Catherine held her wound tightly while she watched Taiga. Where is all of this power coming from? It doesn't even feel like Taiga anymore.

Taiga let out another loud roar while she pounced towards the masked man like an animal.

The masked man raised his fist to block the punch from Taiga. "Well you do seem a bit stronger than before but-" With his free hand he grabbed Taiga's arm and tossed her towards the wall.

Taiga flew back and sunk her claws into the wall to keep herself in place. All she could do was growl in response while she stared at the man.

She'd pull her claws out the wall and push off of it to fly towards him roaring loudly.

"The same approach won't work-" He ducked down to avoid a kick aimed at his head. "You have to try harder than that-" He went silent and widened his eyes as he took a direct kick to his stomach. The man coughed out a small amount of blood while he flew down the staircase and landed on his feet.

Taiga went back to standing on all fours lile she did before and began to growl. What's happening? Where am I? What am I doing? She thought as she began to run down the staircase. She jumped into the air and raised her foot into the air before swinging it downwards.

He jumped to the side and watched  Taiga's foot shatter the ground beneath it. So her awakening is just a giant boost it seems. The man thought to himself while slamming his foot into Taiga's stomach. "I'll admit I did underestimate you S-Class. You proved to be more of a  challenge than I expected."

Taiga slid across the floor on her side. "Grrr." She growled slightly while rubbing her stomach. Before Taiga had a moment to think one of his puppets slammed its foot into Taiga's stomach. Soon another one rammed Taiga into the ground and held her there.

The man walked over Taiga while raising his knife. "It was fun for a while but-" He went silent as his head suddenly snapped to the right as if he was punched.

Using her scarf as a makeshift bandage around her body while she pointed her finger at the masked man. "Did you forget about me? The great Catherine?!" She shouted while suddenly standing behind him. "I'll make you pay for that." Catherine raised her foot and threw a kick into his side causing the man to fly into a wall.

"Hmph! I can't let Taiga take all the glory-" Catherine was interrupted mid-sentence as a cut slowly formed on her cheek from another puppet covered with blades.

Taiga meanwhile had gotten free and tore apart the puppets holding her still while she turned to Catherine and growled.

"Taiga?" Catherine tilted her head while staring at her. "You good?" She began to step back while Taiga got closer and closer. "It's me!" She went still as Taiga was now face to face with her.

Taiga stared Catherine directly in the eyes while taking several sniffs of her. "Catherine?" She began to speak.

"Ok good you aren't a complete beast afterall then." Catherine sighed with relief.  "Now lets hurry and finish off that-" She went silent as the ground began to shake slightly. Soon a massibe building size puppet began to rise out of the ground and tear apart the castle causing rubble to come crashing down.

The two quickly ran out the building and looked up in shock at the giant puppet.

"Got any ideas?" Catherine said while turning to Taiga.

"Uhh...no." Taiga responded while she ran forward towards the masaive puppet.

The puppet raised it's foot and slowly lowered it onto Taiga. There was a brief pause as the puppet's foot didn't reach the ground completely since Taiga was holding it up. "Catherine!" She shouted as Catherine surrounded her fist in aura and shattered the foot.

The puppet dropped down to a kneeling position. Soon several spikes began to fire out of the puppet from several directions with little to no aim for Taiga and Catherine.

The two dodged what was aimed towards them while running up the puppet dodging any spikes that shot up beneath them.

"Taiga." Catherine grabbed onto the girls arm and jumped off the puppet beginning to fall back to the ground. "Go!" She began to spin and flung Taiga upwards towards the masked man who stood on the head.

Taiga let out a loud roar as she flew towards him and extened her claws. "This is payback!" Taiga screamed loudly as she neared the mask man and swung her arm downward and in one swift motion slashing off his arm. When she landed on the head Taiga slammed her fist into his face shattering a part of the mask

The man slid back and clenched his wound while holding back a scream of agony. Soon the puppet began to fall apart completely causing both to stumble around a bit. "You'll pay!" He mumbled under his breath while he took a step back and jumped off the head.

Present Day

"Good times...good times." Taiga mumbled to herself while still laughing a bit. "You ever wonder what happened to that guy?"

"Eh. Not really." Catherine grabbed her side. "He did kind of stab me and cut off your arm."

Taiga nodded while she glanced at Catherine and smiled slightly. "I never got to thank you for what you did."

"Yeah it's whatver." Catherine began rubbing her head.

Taiga nodded while she and Catherine stood up and walked off back to the house.
