I stood, looking into the darkness. Where were they. A blue glow began to emerge from the ground. I looked down to see the murders soul rise up from its body. It stood up right and scowled at me. He reached out his hands to grab my neck. I went to jump back, but they were too quick. Fortunately their hands slipped right through me and were unable to grab onto me. They pulled back their hands and gazed at them in confusion. His face fell into terror as he realized he was dead. I just looked at him, unsure of what to do.
"Don't move," screamed, who I believed to be Marco.
That caught the murders attention. They looked over their shoulders to where the scream came from. He must have known Marco was screaming at him. He quickly turned around and began to sprint off. When he disappeared around a corner, Red let out a roar.
"DAMN IT,"
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Marco disappeared," she said, walking out where I could see her.
"What! How?" I panicked.
"I don't know," she answered running her hand through her hair in frustration.
Her eyebrows pulled together in sudden realization. She began to run in the direction of the murder and I followed.
"He must be able to teleport to where that murder is. I bet he's chasing him," she told me.
The murder came into view a head of us, but there was no sign of Marco. That clearly annoyed Red as she cursed out loud.
"Maybe if we catch the murder, we'll be able to catch Marco," she said.
"But we can't touch him. His hands went through me," I told her.
"Well I've been able to touch souls. It could be because you're in your human form," she guessed.
"I'll shift then and see if I can catch him then,"
Red nodded her head in agreement and then clicked her fingers. She must have had an idea.
"You catch him. I'll met you then," she said and ran in a different direction.
This part was up to me. I took a deep breath and let the fire I had originally felt from the first time I shifted, tare through me. I could feel my wolf self rip through and my four paws land on the ground. There was a new surge of energy pulsing through my veins. I began to pick up speed and close the distance between me and the murder. He looked back over his shoulder at me and tried to run faster, but I was catching up on him. He made a sharp turn down a tiny alley.
I tried to follow him down the small gap between the buildings, but I was to big in my wolf form. I growled in frustration and struggled to come up with a solution. I looked up and realized that climbing up was my only option. I stood back to give myself some room and using all my strength pushed off the ground. I launched forward and clung onto the edge of the roof. Kicking against the wall beneath me, I climbed onto the roof. I began to run almost immediately, but stumbled a big, trying to adjust to running on a slant. I could still smell him, the rotting stench of a condemned soul. He was still close. I managed to find him down below. It was still too tight for me to fit in, so I chased him from the roof. As he crossed the street over to an other small street, I had to jump from on roof top to another.
It took me a moment before I regained my balance, but I was back on his trail fast. He was not getting away from me. I began to feel complete and utter rage towards him. Catching him was a step closer towards finding my daughter. I will go to hell before he gets away from me. I could feel my teeth expose themselves as I barked in anger. He had to come out into the open eventually. I watched his every move. He kept looking up at me and trying to run faster. He finally had to run out into an open road. I wasted no time in leaping down. My huge wolf form caused a small quake in the ground. I closed the gap in a few seconds and pounced on him. I knocked him back flat and stood on his chest. I could feel him. Red was right. I was useless in my human form, but now I was unstoppable. I growled right into his face. There was a screech behind my when a car drifted to a stopped. I recognized that car. That was our car. Red got out, looking quiet pleased.
"It worked. Good job," she said.
"You can get off him now,"
I was reluctant to get up, for fear he was escape, but there was nowhere he could run from Red. I stood off and she reached down and grabbed his shirt. She dragged him over to the car. She opened the back door and looked back at me.
"You need to keep him back here," she told me.
I quickly got into the back of the car and she pushed him in after me. She slammed the door closed and got into the drivers seat. I bit into his shoulder to make sure he did not go anywhere. She took off driving at lightning speed. I imagined she knew where she was going. She drove along empty streets, until she came to a tunnel. There were lights all along the sides to show you where you were going. She drove down into it, until we could not see the entrance anymore. She sat for a moment and suddenly all the little lights along the walls began to get brighter.
"Close your eyes," she said.
I shut them quickly and seconds later, there was a flash and loud smashing sounds. When I opened my eyes again, the whole tunnel was submerged in darkness. There was utter silence for about ten minutes. Everything was still. My heart nearly stopped when Red suddenly flicked on the head lights. Standing there, in the beam of light, was a very frightened man. Red put her foot to the ground and drove straight for him. Everything happened so quickly I never had a chance to close my eyes and saw the very moment the car hit him and sent him flying.
