Chapter 23, New Weapons

(Wayra's POV)
    I am paralyzed. Then instinct kicks in and I walk over to Daniel and give him a hug. I didn't even think about it, I was already hugging him before I knew what I was doing.

"I'm sorry Daniel" I say sadly. "I did have a backup plan though." I sigh as I continue hugging him.

I didn't know Daniel had been through that. In our world, he might of just simply gotten his heart broken, but here...

"I'm sorry for scaring everyone." I say to to the group finally ending the hug.

"But I just don't know how else to unlock my powers. I'm kinda like Naruto or Natsu." Was this why he was kinda protective of me?

Maybe he didn't want to loose another friend. I understand. I would be sad if he died to! I couldn't help but wonder what would happen in hour world if one of us died. I turn back to Daniel.

"I'm sorry for scaring you." I apologize again. "How would you help me unlock my powers? I'm gonna try breathing underwater next. I don't exactly think that there is any "safe" way of unlocking my powers... I mean... Fire resistance, I risk getting burned! But I don't care, I can't explain how, but I have a feeling that everything is gonna be ok." I reassure him. I turn to Jellall. (However it's spelled)

"I don't use magic with hardly any of my techniques. They are all Chi or Chacra. And I have never run out before. Flying, doesn't use any energy at all! Which is why it's so rare among air benders. So, are you gonna help me with the rest of my powers?"

Daniel Murchison
(Daniel's POV)
    "Alright," he said, "We still have a few months before the next Grand Magic Games. We can try to take things slow for a bit, but your right, there is no safe way to unlocking your powers."

"So how do we proceed?" asked Mavis.

"How ever we can," Daniel replied.

And so we continued our training. After a week, I was able to breath underwater. Two weeks allowed me to gain my fire resistance, though I never did figure out how to eat it. A month in I was even stronger, While learning requip magic which allowed me to summon any weapon in my arsenal, I could combined it with my elemental magic to perform powerful attacks. Since I had no weapons, Daniel gave me a few of his that he had kept. One was a staff that he said was made out of four different lacrama, one for each of the four basic elements. The last one was a bow that could shoot lightning, the last was the Rune-sword from our first adventure.

"Remember," he said, "In order to summon them, you just need to think of it, and it will appear in your hand."

"Do I have to shout requip," I asked, and does it work on armor too, Like Erza?"

"Erza is the only person who can requip armor," Daniel said, "Bisca is also a requip wizard and not even she can do it. And no, you don't have to shout requip when you do, but it does scare your enemies if you do every once and a while. Let me show you how to use your weapons."

He took the staff and bow and they disappeared from his hand.

"Now watch this," he said, the shouted, "REQUIP: STAFF OF THE FOUR ELEMENTS!"

The staff then reappeared in his hand. Then he shouted, "SACRED STAFF: EARTH!"

He then twirled the staff around. As he did, the very earth under him moved at the motion of the staff. When he stopped, so did the earth. He then gave the staff back to me.

"When you want to use an element with the staff," he said, " You have to say 'sacred staff' then what ever element of the four basic ones you want. This means you can only use air, water, earth, and fire. Now, to see what your bow can do."

He took another step back and shouted, "REQUIP: THUNDER BOW!"

The bow appeared in his hand and he pulled the string. As he did, a bolt of lightning appeared where an arrow would be. He then released the string, letting the bolt fly into the sky. When it when into the clouds, it released a clasp of thunder and lightning in the sky.

"When the bolt hits its target," he said, "It will release a electric pulse that can either stun your opponent, or take him down. The best part is you don't need to use any arrows, it has a lightning lacrama fused with it so you can keep using it."

He gave the bow back to me, "As for the sword, you already know what it does. When you find new weapons throughout your travels, you can always store them for requips. For now, try and practice with these. Start with the staff, it will be easier to use for now."

    "Thankyou for everything your teaching me Jason." I say. "They may come in handy, but I have a feeling I'm gonna try to stick to light travels. Meaning magic, chi, chacra, and the arts. But I appreciate everything your doing for me! I should learn how to use a sword, I don't know how often I would use one, but if I had to chose ONE weapon, it would be a sword."

I suddenly remember something. There was another technique that would come in handy when fighting lightning wizards. I immediately get into a relaxed comfortable strong stance and raise my left arm until it's diagonally upward, then I take my right hand and copy it, then I slide my hand down my left arm until it reaches my shoulder, then I slide it down to my belly, NOT through my heart, that could be fatal! After that I slide it back up my other arm and shoot it out diagonally out the other side. I repeat this several times making sure to breathe well. I was ready. I would use the real deal now. I had to use sort of a mixture of water, and fire bending, this was a fire bending technique using water bending energy. I repeat what I had just done, but this time I add fire and water enough to the point to make energy. As I slide my hand down it converts to electricity, and as I shoot my hand out the other side turn into lightning and shoots high into the sky. I grin. Another technique successfully learned. I could use this in reverse to, if lightning was shot at me, I could catch it and redirect it another direction.

I decide to make sure I still remember everything else, so using my chacra I run onto the water, I am literally running on the water. I then fly into the air and let go so I am falling into to the water the water feels cool on my skin and clothes as it engulfs me. I let out my breath and breathe in the water. I loved doing that, I had been breathing underwater almost as much as I had been flying, which was a lot! Ok, technique perfected. I jump out of the water and fly into the sky. Then I my fire engulf me. Something confusing was: "HOW THE HECK IS IT NOT SETTING MY CLOTHES ON FIRE?!?" But I had gotten used to that already. I put out the flames when my clothes dried, which was almost instantly! Then I flew back to land where Daniel and the others were watching me practice. Ok. One more technique, I run to the nearest tree. I am part earth. I think to myself. This technique should work, I am an earth bender after all! Now I had to be part of it. So I leaned against the tree and let myself merge with it. Then I thought of Daniel and emerged through the ground in front of him.

"What do you think?" I ask eagerly. "Oh, and what did you mean when you said that dream travelers can bend reality to their will?" I ask Mavis.
