Chapter 55, A Nasty Surprise

(Wayra's POV)
"So," Daniel said, "You guys Dream Travelers?"

"Not too sure," said Meliodas.

"Hey," Natsu said walking up. "You look pretty strong. How about a match?"

"Hold it," Daniel said, "I could sense them from across the arena this afternoon. You would be knocked out in two seconds at most. Besides, I'd like a round with him first."

"Oh great," said Lavander, "One more complication before the wedding! Jay, we don't have time for this!"

"Then again," said Meliodas, "It would be a shame to turn down an offer to fight, but are you sure you want to fight me?"

Daniel smiles, "Oh I'm sure. By the sense of your energy, You've been a trained fighter for over ten years. I've had fifteen years of training."

"That right?" Meliodas replied, "You look about sixteen, are you immortal?"

"Nah," Daniel replied, "I've just been jumping between worlds for so long that it doesn't affect me."

"I'll have to study this further," said Merlin.

"Not on me," Daniel said, "I know what it's like to be an experement, I think I'll see what I'm up against."

"Hold on," said Ban, "We only came here to talk to the girl, we saw her match with those Sabertooth guys."

"She's strong," Daniel replied, "But I've faced a half Grymm hybrid being, fought against an evil angle spirit, and even my own evil future self. I've faced over fifty of this kingdom's strongest wizards, including the Hungary Wolf Knights."

"The who now," asked Diane.

"A group of strong wizard assassins," I replied, "They work for the King here."

"Here that," Bad said, "You've got wizard assassins, King!"

"Shut up," said King

"Well," said Meliodas, "You sound like a strong guy. Alright, I'll fight you."

Daniel smiles, it was really creepy. He covered his body in flames and charged Meliodas.

"Hellfire?" Asks Meliodas.

"Thats right, I'm gonna make you burn!"

Meliodas chuckles.

"Doubt that." Meliodas easily steps out of the way of Daniel's attack. "Like Cristalina says, I'm a demon."

Daniel charges again. This time, he knocks Meliodas down and pins him.

"I'm betting on Meliodas winning." Ban says.

Everyone else agrees.

"I can see that Melioda's power level is way higher than this guy!" Hawk says.

"I trust Lord Meliodas!" Elizabeth says.

"Seriously? No one thinks I could win?" Asks Daniel. "Cristalina? What about you?"

I shake my head.

"Sorry. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just that this guy is even more powerful than Kairo, Leinad when he was bad, and all the villains we have fought until now, put together." I say. "So... I hope your not angry, but I'm betting on Meliodas."

Daniel has Meliodas pinned.

"Ok, ok! I give up, you win!" Meliodas says. But as Daniel is getting up, Meliodas says:

"Just kidding!" And smiles.

Too fast for even me to see, Meliodas jumps to his feet and prepares for an attack.

"HELFIRE DRAGON ROAR!" Daniel shouts as he blasts his most powerful fire attack yet at Meliodas.

"Oh no!" I say.

"You know what captain will do?" Diane says.

I nod.

"Jason is definitely loosing!"

Meliodas raises his sacred treasure, his sword, and says calmly with one hand in his pocket:

"Full counter."

«Yep, Daniel is loosing.» I think.

All the magic Daniel directed at Meliodas is instantly redirected at Daniel with 2 times the power.

Daniel wasn't expecting this, so he gets hit and staggers back falling, but he immediately eats all of the fire.
Meliodas walks calmly to Daniel and points his sword at him. Then he sheaths it and sticks out his hand to help up Daniel. Daniel takes it and stands up.
But I can see the fire in his eyes. Was he still being affected by the seed? I immediately dash in front of him, knocking Meliodas to the side and twist his arm just as he is about to attack Meliodas again.

"Snap out of it! You ok?" I ask Daniel.

His eyes turn back to normal.

"Yeah. " He says. "Sorry, good game!"

I lean in to whisper in Daniel's ear.

"He was going easy on you, and he isn't a 12 year old boy, he is actually more than 3,000 years old. He has had way more training than 10 years, back when he was evil, he was feared even by the goddesses."

"Now, who else wanted a go with me or with someone of my group?" Asks Meliodas.

"I knew he had more experience," Daniel whispered back, "I just wanted to see-"

He stops and looks across the street. I turn to the same direction and see a woman in a red dress. She then walks away, leaving Daniel with a look of suprise.

"That's not possible," he said, "She shouldn't be here."

"Hey," said Meliodas, "You know that chick, she's pretty cute."

"This isn't a laughing matter," Daniel said, "That 'chick' as you put it is Cinder Fall, one of Remnant's most dangerous criminals!"

"What did she do?" I asked.

Daniel sat down on a bench.

"She stole the aura of one of the most powerful huntressess in history: the Fall Maiden."

"The what now?" asked Hawk and Natsu at the same time.

"Long ago," Daniel said, "An old man gave magical powers to four traveling maidens who came to his house. Each maiden represents a season of the year. When a maiden dies, the young woman in her last thoughts is the first candidate to be the next maiden. Cinder stole the aura of the Fall Maiden to gain her powers, but she didn't get it all. She had to kill the maiden to fully gain the powers."

"Okay," said Ban, "I'm very confused. What is the babble your talking about?"

"Long story short," Daniel replied, "She stole a person's living essence and then killed her. And now she's here in Crocus, we have to figure out how she got here and who else is with her."

"She doesn't work alone?" I asked.

"No," he replied, "She's Salem's top henchman... Or woman."

"Wait," Lavander said, "Isn't Salem the woman who captured you and tortured you for six months?"

Daniel nodded, "That's not even the worst she did." He took off his shirt, revealing his torso and a long, skin colored latex-like cover on his left arm. He pulled the latex back to reveal a metallic arm.

"Jeez," I heard some people say.

"I'd rather not go into details," Daniel said, putting his shirt back on.
