Chapter 52, Small Surprise

(Daniel's POV)
    Something is wrong, I can tell. They might not think it, but Dragonslayers do have extensive hearing. Lavander is in some sort of trouble, something about having a hard time remaining alive? What does that mean? Either way, I have to trust that she is able to figure it out. I watch as I see them come back.

"Everything alright?" I ask.

"Peachy," Lav replies. "I was just asking Cristlina to be my bridesmaid for the wedding."

Dead lie, that's for sure. But I have to play on that I didn't hear the conversation.

"Great," I say. "I take it you agreed?"

She stutters, if she is going to impersonate Lav, she won't know how long she is going to be gone.

"I'm not sure," she replies finally. "I need some time to think about it."

"Sounds fine," I reply. "Just let us know before the wedding. Now how about we head back to the hotel? I'm ready for some dinner."

I throw off my blanket and put my feet down on the ground. I see that my right leg is in a cast.

"Jason," Wayra said. "What happened to your leg?"

"Not sure," I reply. "Natsu, what happened to my leg?"

"You broke it," Natsu replied, "When Kairo released the energy blast, you landed on your leg. Porlyuscia said you won't be able to walk right on it for another week or so."

He hands me a pair of crutches. Landed on my leg! I haven't done that since I was thirteen, only then I twisted it.

"Need a hand," Wayra asked.

"I'm good," I reply.

We all then walked down to one of the diners to get some dinner, then headed back to the hotel.

I walk up to Lavender and whisper in her ear.

"I won't tell Daniel, but we have to be careful how we talk, he has sensitive hearing you know."

Lavender nods.

"I do too, I know." She whispers back.

I turn back to the gang.

"Well." I say. "What now?"

"Well," Dainel said, "For now, we plan. The next two days are going to be interesting. Both me and Lav are being switched for Erza and Grey. The evening matches tomorrow are two on two. Then the final day is all the teams against each other in Crocus."

"So what's the plan," I ask.

"For tomorrow," he replied, "Erza takes the morning challenge, once the matches start up we should be in the clear."

"Sounds good," Erza said, "You sure you want to stay out Jason?"

"My leg's broken Erza," Daniel said, "If I want to walk decently for my wedding, I think I'll wait."

"Sounds good," Grey said, he walked in shirtless once again.

"You should get some rest then," Natsu says, "I'll have Wendy come and heal your leg in the morning."

"Thanks Natsu," Daniel said, "We all should get some rest, some of us have a big day coming up."

Everyone nods then heads to their rooms, I decided to head to mine. But something doesn't seem right, I ask Lavander if I could talk to her for a sec. We head to my room and I close the door.

"You having second thoughts," she asked.

"Sort of," I said, "I just don't feel like this is right. I mean, what if you show up after the wedding? I'd have to knock him out just so you could get back in!"
