Lonely father // S.M. ( Completed)

"I will be upstairs with Ela" Aaliyah says , going upstairs with Ela in her arms

"Just be careful with her" I tell her and then her room's door goes closed

"You must be the most hurt than all of us" My mom says, as she cuts the ingredients for dinner

"Why that? " I ask her

"Because you lost Lydia. And we all lost dad" She says and I see the tears forming in her eyes

"I didn't lose Lydia. She just walked away from our home and family. That's something I will never forgive.  Dad was killed. And I will never forget him. I can forget about Lydia, but not dad" I tell her and look down to my feet

"Shawn, it's still too soon to get over this lost. It's not easy. None of us was prepared. We have each other" Mom says, touching my hand with hers.

"I just wished that I could speak to him, one more time and tell him what he means to me. all his life, he thought that I took him for granted. But he was my idol"

"Shawn, he knew that. He loved you. You and Aaliyah. He was never disappointed from none of you. He didn't need to hear that you loved him. He already knew" My mom says and turns off the oven.

Shawn goes over to the bookcase and grabs a big book and carries it to where I am

"What is this? " I ask her

"This is something like his lifetime. Everything he wanted for you nd Aaliyah. He wrote it a few months ago. Like he knew that he would be killed , and he wanted to leave something behind. I have already read it. Aaliyah isn't mature enough yet to read it. Read it tonight. But me sure Aaliyah won't see it okay? "

"Okay.but why not let Aaliyah read this? " I ask her

"She isn't ready. She is still trying to get over the first stage shock. A therapist is seeing her every week , trying to help her. And if she reads this, she won't get any better" Mom says, giving me the book and I nod. She kisses NY forehead like she did when I was little

I took the book in my old room and made sure I lock the room before going downstairs , just in case.

To be honest, I'm dying to read the book. I don't know if I will manage to read everything tht dad wrote , but I just want to find out basic things.  Not exactly basic, just want he really had in his heart and soul

"Where's Aaliyah" My mom asks after dinner

"She was upstairs with Ela. I haven't changed on them for hours" I tell her,  taking the last bite from my chicken.

"Just take Ela with you after you check on Aaliyah. " Mom says, taking a sip from her wine and I get up from table

I get upstairs and knock on Aaliyah's door. No response. I open the door and see Aaliyah sleeping,  wearing a hoodie that was dad's. Ela is just right next to her, looking at dad's photo

I cover Aaliyah with the blankets and take Ela with me. I close the lights and the door of Aaliyah's room before going to mine

I see my mom washing the dishes. Usually she would talked to dad whenever she was doing the chores at night. But not anymore

"Good night mom" I tell her and open my door

"Good night shawn. And Ela" She says and then close my door

I place Ela on my chest as soon so I lay on my bed. She likes listening to my heart beat

"I hope you are prepared to hear that heart beat go faster" I tell her and I open the book that mom gave me
