Ma'am Annie's ten o'clock class was in shambles. Chairs were grouped here and there. The students are either standing or sitting. But all of them are doing only one thing - rehearsing. This day marked their first end-of-the-week task. In a few minutes, they will be singing in front, together with their groups and their chosen songs.

On the second window, the three musketeers were harmonizing their song. Russell was holding a sheet of paper on his left hand. He religiously glances at it while he was singing. His right hand was moving along the notes like he was some baton in an orchestra. Though he got pretty shaken from last night's brawl, he seemed to be able to focus well.

Ford and Niel were following his lead, one hand on a sheet of paper and covering the ear on the other. Just like Russell, they tried to forget what happened last night. For whatever it is, it cannot be an excuse for today's important task.

Finally, the front door opened and there emerged Ma'am Annie, always in a motherly but strict aura. The whole class quickly rearrange their seats. Ma'am Annie walked to the front, folded her arms across her chest and said,

A: "Good Morning, class!"

The class responded a faint greeting.

A: "Okay! Today is the day! Yes, who's excited?"

She threw her hand in the air. But she was surprised that no one was as excited as she was.

A: "Nervous?"

She guessed. The whole class nodded.

A: "Oh come on. Don't be. You are doing what you love. Anong ikakanerbyos niyo? Relax. Breathe. Enjoy. It's music, guys! It's what you love diba? Kaya kayo nandito? Correct?"

She paced the room.

A: "Okay. Now. Here are the rules. You will be singing by threes, and a piano will accompany you at the beginning...then you just have to sing acapella. Use the first few seconds of the song as your baseline in singing.

A loud murmur came from the class, whispering "Acapella?".

A: Now, now. Please. Silence. You also have to harmonize within three octaves.

The murmur was even louder.

A: Silence, everyone! Now. An hour and a half left on the clock. Let's start.

She reached for a fishbowl just sitting by the piano. She pulled out a piece of paper and called,

A: "Juarez, Cecilio, and...Cesena?"

Three guys rose from their seats. They walked gingerly towards the front. Their faces were a mixture of excitement and nervousness. But they smiled at the class. The piano played, and the guy named Miko was first to sing,

"Going out tonight
Changes into something red
Her mother doesn't like that kind of dress
Everything she never had she's showing off

Driving too fast
Moon is breaking through her hair
She's heading for something that she won't forget
Having no regrets is all that she really wants

  We're only getting older, baby
And I've been thinking about it lately
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you've ever dreamed of
Disappearing when you wake up
But there's nothing to be afraid of
Even when the night changes

It will never change me and you

It wasn't that kind of perfect harmony, but it went smooth. Some even sang along with them. When they were done, Ma'am Annie stood up and read aloud from her notes
