chapter thirty-seven. . . fear is an emotion
◇
MALIA'S PHONE RESTED between her ear and her shoulder as she gripped onto her stirring wheel of her Range Rover with her approach towards the Hunter's Moon where she was supposed to have had been meeting Clary and Simon, it had been a while since the three of them had hung out with each other. Simon had been blinded with his thought of being able to walk out in the sun to how Malia was coping with the loss of her mother and Zane. He felt like grabbing drinks with one another was one of the best ways in which they could rekindle their friendship, having it as tight as it was beforehand. But the Bellerose was running behind schedule, she had wondered how she hadn't noticed how quick the movement of time had been.
Malia had been relaxing in her room, enjoying her alone time as she went through some photos she had managed to retrieve from her apartment. A lot were filled with Zane because it was her first relationship as she wanted to remember it. But as she was late it caused a grilling from the vampire who sat on the other end of the awaiting for his best friend's arrival.
"Clary's had drunk your cola twice. Twice." Simon emphasised as Malia had turned the wheel slowly around the corner that led her to the Hunter's Moon.
"Look, I'm sorry." Malia apologised as her fingers tapped around the wheel of her car. "I lost track of time, Si."
"I've been waiting to hang out with you for a week and the one time where we're about to you're late." Simon exclaimed.
Malia chuckled as she had slowed to a stop along the side of the road. "Well, Simon. I am here. I just pulled up." She told before climbing out of her car after cutting out her engine and making sure she slid her keys into the pocket of her leathered coat. "So stop your moaning and be prepared to enjoy my company."
Whenever Malia had found a dead body, she was somewhat unaware of what she had been doing. The banshee believed she was heading into the Hunter's Moon to meet her two best friends but instead she had diverted the door of the bar to turn down the alleyway that ran alongside of it as she remained on the phone to Simon. "I am waiting for you to walk straight through the door, Malia. It's like a three second walk from your car to..."
Malia's listening had drifted away from Simon who had fallen into concern with the sudden silence that came from the brunette who had lowered her phone from her ear with notice of the cut flesh covered in blood laying at her feet. The banshee's brows furrowed in confusion as she took in her surroundings that had caused her to fall into the realisation she didn't stand at the door of the Hunter's Moon, she stood in the middle of an alleyway. Malia's lips parted as she noticed the darkened mark that was a rune that had been cut before her walk continued further down the alleyway.
