chapter fifty-five. . .
descent to hell

MALIA HAD TOO many thoughts playing all at once. She thought about what wouldn't have had happen if she hadn't fallen for the rune, about Magnus not being in Edom and getting a wedding with Alec and the fact that Jonathan would've still been locked in the subcell not causing havoc. It was all so much to think about it and which hung on her shoulders as she sat on the edge of Jace's bed. She had chosen to take off her nail polish and her to pick at her fingernails instead while silence had filled between her and Jace and which admittedly made her feel uncomfortable.

Jace suggested for Malia to sleep but her eyes were constantly opened thinking about Magnus Bane in Edom and unable to get out even though they were planning on figuring out a way they could. The blonde sat at the piano, his back towards the brunette who didn't want to be coddled to make her feel better when she felt like she didn't deserve it. "Any word on Magnus?" Malia asked causing the Herondale to turn on the piano stool towards his girlfriend with a shake of his head.

"No."

"I-I can't stop thinking about Alec." Malia admitted. And she couldn't. He was in her thoughts since Magnus had sacrificed himself.

"Alec's strong." Jace reassured before pushing himself off of the stool. "He's determined to get him back and we will. I know we will. I got you back, didn't I?"

"Did you?" Malia pondered.

"You're the same Malia you've always been."

"Jace...I'm not." She had disagreed with his thought and which he had to ease her mind that everything was going to be okay. "How...how do I come back after everything I've done?"

"The same way I did." Jace stepped forward, his arm stretching out to embrace her into a hug which allowed her to rest into his chest, to comfort her and which had slightly eased her mind. "And I'll be here to help you, no matter what."

EVERYONE'S CONCERN HAD fallen onto Isabelle Lightwood. The raven haired who had been set a fire yet lived with no burns but the heavenly fire in her system from the shrapnel that had embedded into her back in the Seelie Court. Malia had hurried alongside Jace, tugging on the sleeves of her red suede jacket to come across Isabelle surrounded by friends and more joining due to their heavy concern for her sake.

"Izzy, hey," Jace called after her. When he had received the message he had freaked out and Malia had worried for what damage the shrapnel had done to the Lightwood. "are you okay?" Simon was in disbelief with how Isabelle had not only hugged Clary and Ben when they had checked on her but she had hugged onto Jace just the same.
