MARCUS’ POV

Keep calm.

Keep calm.

After seeing something not so nice again, that phrase has been what I kept saying in my head for the past days.

Monday. Aiden fed Rin. Rin fed Aiden.

Tuesday. Rin hugged Aiden. Aiden hugged back.

Wednesday. After winning in Track & Field and Relay Race, Aiden was the one to wipe Rin’s sweat and give her food. While I failed at that attempt.

These past few days, I feel so frustrated since Aiden have been filling in my role. He looked more of her boyfriend than me, and that makes me feel so bad.

I’ve never felt so much vexed than today.

“Please line up.” The referee said.

Today, we are playing dodgeball. And for the first time we will be going against Team 5. Rin’s team. The players will be a mix of boys and girls for each team and same rules for a typhical game applies. Dodge the ball with your hands but don’t let it touch you.

We lined up facing the opposite team. Some of their members smiled at familiar faces in our team. Rin smiled at me which gave me a little relief. But then her attention was turned to Aiden who whispered something in her ear which made her laugh.

Ugh.

I’m getting more and more pissed.

“Game start!” The referee shouted and blew his whistle to signal the start of the battle.

The ball was caught by team 5’s leader and threw it to one of our girl members and hit her on her arm.

“Out!” The referee said and we were one member down.

“This will be an easy win.” Team 5’s leader uttered and our leader smirked at him.

The ball kept being thrown hard and harder that the teams started to lose its members. Team 5 with 6 members left and our team with 6 members left too.

The ball got passed to Rin this time and she caught it even if it was one hard pass. She kept on panting after withstanding almost an hour of play. She passed it back to us and Seulgi who is beside me caught it.

“Gotcha!” She said and then smirked.

With all her strength, Seulgi threw the ball back to Team 5. Team 5 awaited for the ball while shuffling places. When it was near them, a girl was in front of the team, but then she was able to sit down before it could even hit her, and it unfortunately hit the person behind her.

A loud thud was heard.

Everyone got caught off guard of what they saw and stood up. The girl behind who was hit fell on her back to the ground with her eyes closed and her body not moving.

I started to run. I knew I needed to. The girl lying there is my girl.

“Hey, Rin!” I said as I scooped her up in my arms when I kneeled down to check on her.

I tried to shake her but she wouldn’t even budge.

“D-darn it.” I cursed under my breath and I held her in my arms and started to run going to the infirmary.

“H-help us please!” I shouted as I went inside the infirmary.

“What happened? Lay her down on the bed.” The nurse said and I did as I was told.

“She was hit by a ball on her head and she just fell down all of a sudden after that.” I said while panting.

The nurse started to check on her. She checked her pulse. Her breathing. Her eyes. She touched her skin with the back of her hand.
