VICTORIA: I traced my finger on the empty pages of my Grimoire.

Grimoires were passed down from our family's ancestors. I received mine when I was fourteen and it was the happiest day of my life. It was a requirement as a member of the Whitewoods which gave me the advantage over others.

Other mages from other Warlord families had to focus to create their own but it didn't mean I was any closer to becoming a warlord, I still had a long way to go.

I was simply an ordinary mage with her very own Grimoire.

Man, why is Jon such a slow teacher?

I focused all my energy on manifesting a spell, it took all one's focus and willpower to summon magic.

After a while, the page began glowing and a glowing butterfly made of pure magic flapped out, it left behind glittering sparks that twinkled as they fell.

I smiled as it flapped around and landed on my arm – I was getting better at summoning.

It was then that the realization dawned on me and my eyes slowly glanced at Rose who had on her face the perfect visual image of shock.

Oops.

The car suddenly jerked to a stop, I looked at Owen in frustration. He never warned me when it came to stuff like that but it was useless arguing, ''What is it?'' I asked.

Owen pointed out the window and I followed his gaze, in front of the road was a tree.

It looked like it fell over during the storm and judging by the size of it, it must've been serious.

''Can you check it out?'' I said and Owen exited the car without a word, he was never one to talk.

I tried squinting my eyes but to no avail, the view was all blurry from inside. I looked at Rose for a second then averted my gaze, I could tell she wanted an explanation for the trick I just did.

Yeah right, why should I explain myself to her?

The rain continued to pour and suddenly a flash of lightning lit the place up for a moment and Owen was gone!

Where did he go?

It was in an instant, one second he was there the next he wasn't.

Owen!

''Where...'' Rose began to ask what I was already thinking but then stopped as the car suddenly moved violently.

It was like another car had crashed behind us but as we both slowly looked back, a silhouette quickly vanished.

No one was there, the rain too had fog covering the windows but I knew whatever it was, it was big.

Our lives were possibly in danger ''Great'' I sighed.

''What was that?'' Rose almost whimpered as she slowly looked out the window. I had to agree with her, something was definitely wrong and I knew without a doubt...danger was close.

"This is just great." I grumbled in frustration "What are the odds?"

"Odds?" Rose looked at me with clear confusion.

"You're just a magnet for trouble aren't you?"

She seemed a bit taken back as for the first time I noticed her brows wrinkle "Are you saying I caused this?"

"It doesn't matter." I spat back.

Her lips parted ways slightly and I almost welcomed her apparent anger rising but at the last second, she said nothing.
