ROSE: ''The demon is finally being exorcised'' Judy sneered at the doorway.

She was a short plump woman, barely reaching my shoulders but her attitude made up for that.
Her grey hair was untangled as usual, just like her sister but her sunken eyes bore deep down into my soul.

I looked away as I prepared for what was inevitable.

''I hope you cause other people to realize what you are!'' she poked at me hard and I winced in pain but not physical pain.

''Stop it!'' Diddy said sternly as she held my shoulders tightly. I looked at her knowing that it took every ounce of willpower to not punch Judy.

Diddy hated Judy with passion and she wasn't the only one, in fact, she was the least likable person in the whole neighborhood.

Judy wasn't fond of children, she hated it when we were smiling. All my life she had caused us misery, taking away dolls, food and locking us for a whole week with no food.

Of course, if Ms. Valine was aware of the maltreatment she would've done something but everyone knew that in the end, Judy always won and it was because she could rest easy knowing her big sister would always forgive her.

She caused problems for the caretakers as well but none suffered more than me and with all the reasons people had to hate her, I couldn't find a significant one that could overshadow her hate of me.

She had every reason to call me a demon, after all, I had no parents, no family whatsoever.

Not only that but she also knew my secret, about the things I could do, Diddy tried to convince her it was a trick but Judy wouldn't have it and ever since, she had been on my case.

''She's not normal and you know it, everyone does but you all turn a blind eye'' Judy shot a look of fury and hatred at me and I could almost see the fire in her eyes.

Her scrutiny of me was intense, a deep disgust of me "This Jon H.E fellow must also be a demon to actually want you."

''How much more would you put this child through?'' Diddy said gritting her teeth.

''What?'' Judy said as if she was the one being victimized, ''Yesterday it happened again, the screams and everything else. She's a spawn of the devil, her mother must've been terrified of the evil she brought into the world!''

I felt the words dig their way into me, it was the profound truth, I wasn't wanted.

I could only open my mouth but had nothing at all to counter Judy but then without warning, Judy found herself on the floor.

It was in an instant, Diddy rushed the old woman and pushed her down to the ground. Judy was no match for her strength and she toppled on her back unto the floor with a splat.

''Don't you dare act like you understand Rose, she's done nothing to you. No one is evil from birth you hag!'' Diddy said in a rasped breath, barely noticing the rain pouring on her now that she was not under the umbrella.

''And if you want to know, her mother is not regretful of this girl's existence, in fact, her mother loves her very much and will not stand by for an old woman to taunt her daughter like that'' Diddy said before returning to me and leading me away as Judy laughed.

''She'll be the death of you, mark my words. She'll be the death of you!''

Diddy had me wrapped in her arms as we walked under the rain.

It took a moment for me to realize what Diddy meant and I sobbed silently, I wanted to hug her, to thank her but she interrupted me.

''Don't cry Rose, this isn't a time to cry, you're going to school. You're starting a new life. You're supposed to be annoyed and complain to me that you don't feel like going'' Diddy said gripping my shoulders tighter.
I couldn't help but smile a little, ''You are going to school young lady and that's final, no amount of weeping is going to change that'' she added.
