VINCENT: It had been four hours since our encounter with the Vampire Council's hitmen.
I couldn't stop thinking about their masks, their claws, and their enormous presence.
"They call themselves the Dragon's Wrath," Boris said as he drove, he could tell I had questions.
"I don't know much about them but I do know of the vampire members in the group"
I nodded, "Go on Boris"
"They comprise of a select group of vampires from the vampire families, each of different nationalities. Most lived during The Night War and have been respected as the best assassins in history."
"Them knowing where we were wasn't a coincidence was it?"
"No sir it wasn't, most likely they followed us from the Peville mansion."
I gripped my palms, being so clueless frustrated me deeply, "Their claws were of Glow-Stone material meaning it's possible there's an elf amongst them."
Boris chuckled, "Precisely sir, very observant of you"
"And what about this Sar fellow. How is it that he knows my mother and father?"
"It's a bit of a complicated story."
"Uncomplicate it then."
"Well by doing that I'd complicate things even more."
"Not if you don't make the explanation complicated."
"But the end result would still complicate an already complicated situation and that'd create complications to complications you'd bring."
"Boris."
"Sar raised your mother."
I had to squint my eyes, blink and ask again "What?"
"He raised your mother, sir. Doing the Night War, I know it's quite shocking to you. Vampires and Dwarves is a strange thing to hear in one sentence."
"How?"
"It's complicated."
I groaned as I realized that he'd not budge from his stand. It wasn't a strict no but Boris clearly didn't want to tell me so I decided to ask the next question boggling my mind.
"What father gave you, is it related to me in some way?"
"Yes sir, more or less. I am truly sorry but I cannot tell you anything in relation to the package, you understand right?"
I didn't reply that question, "He doesn't come to my birthday, he sends me out of my house with no information and then endangers my life yet again without telling me anything"
"Your father knows what's best master"
"Are you saying I should just roll over like some dog and follow his orders without knowing what it means for me?" My tone rose in anger.
"No sir, I believe it is in your nature to know things. I merely suggest that you find the answers on your own, you've always like that and now you have a chance to uncover what secrets have been withheld"
"It's what I've been trying to do Boris, it's my resolve to always solve secrets because my whole life I've been in the dark. Father keeps saying it's for my own good but doesn't talk to me, doesn't even look at. Yet he doesn't hesitate to put me in this mess."
"You wouldn't understand now but..."
"Forget I said anything Boris" I looked out the window.
Why was he always like this, why did father hate me?
