VINCENT: I grunted in pain, that training was harder than I expected. I massaged my bruised waist, I felt my way and as deduced a rib was out of place.
Honestly, he never holds back.
I quickly pushed it back in ignoring the monumental pain that followed. I held in a yelp and took deep breaths till the pain gradually subsided.
Soon enough the ride commenced and things seemed to have taken a turn for the better.
The mood had returned to normal, Boris always knew how to make me feel relaxed and less angry.
Eventually I found myself listening to music, a theme song composed by Beethoven, something Eve was fond of.
The music was probably the most soothing thing I had ever heard, the musical tones, the tempo, the upbeats and low-beats all were a testimony to the genius of Beethoven.
I couldn't help but feel my self moving with the rhythm as I forgot about all my worries for a moment but the curiosity in me could not be quelled and I found myself reminiscing.
The Vampire Council were after the package Boris had.
It was also related to me, could it be that the package was to be delivered to Moonsville, was that this Sar's role?
I looked at my driver as he calmly drove and could almost hear a hum. I spotted his silver cross hanging under the rearview mirror, if I remembered correctly...
Boris is Catholic...wonder how that works?
The night had come faster than expected leaving the forest in a dazzling scenery of nature.
The moon tonight was full, radiating a bright glow that illuminated the dark road we were on.
I increased the volume of the score and played with my index finger in the air as if I was a composer. Such sweet melodies, it was such an incredible gift humanity had been blessed with.
Danger.
It took less than a mini second for my hairs on my skin to stand on edge and my mind begun racing fast willing all of my supernatural reflexes.
Immediately I switched off my player, I could sense someone approaching.
"We are being followed." Boris said calmly as I sat up.
"Five of them" I confirmed "in separate black bikes about five minutes behind us."
"Humans it seems." Boris said as he silently kept up his speed.
A distant sound sound could be heard, the sound of an engine belonging to a motorcycle.
I looked behind me and saw two men in bikes, they wore dark helmets and leather jackets, real classy.
Five more appeared behind the two.
"Better make that seven" I said as I sighed, another day another issue.
Can't I listen to Beethoven without disturbances?
Boris looked at his rearview "Better make this fast sir"
We were in total agreement as gunfire echoed, bullets bounced off the bulletproof glass of the car exponentially.
"They seem to be quite relentless." Boris chuckled as he drove on.
"It has to be the humans I encountered at Rockson. Ron must've known as well." I responded.
Hunters.
I flexed my fingers and cracked my neck with a smile "Perhaps I'll get more training" I couldn't help but feel extremely elated.
"This knife should suffice sir" Boris handed me his knife, I hadn't noticed the inscription before.
"Is this a mid era knife, in the time of Picasso, the one the vampire assasin Moderd used?"
"You read about Moderd, I'm impressed."
"Father made me read those some night ago, I guess that's the closest he's ever been to helping me."
Boris looked at me through the rear view making me slightly annoyed "What?"
A loud bang diverted my attention as a hole opened up in the driver's seat next to Boris.
"It looks like their shots are getting through."
Bullets continued to give sparks all around, flashes of light blinded me for a second. I rubbed my brows and observed our pursuers.
More shots were fired but kept being deflected.
Can't you relax for a bit?
Boris inhaled deeply before snatching a bullet that just flew in "Judging by the bullet, they must be using M16 type guns."
I nodded simply "Amateurs"
"If we were to activate the warding spells most would be killed."
I nodded "Code forbids us doesn't it?"
"Do you wish assist?" Boris offered.
" No thank you. Some are also using simple M1911, simple enough to use especially when driving bikes, it is standard issue after all. I'll take out the heavy shooters. Handle the rest."
"They seem to be relatively new hunters, about the ages of 24 to 28. This seems to be their first mission." Boris said as he swerved hard left to avoid a line of fire.
"I should go easy on them?"
"If possible sir."
I grinned as I prepared myself.
"One..." I whispered.
A motorcyclist came up next to my window and aimed his gun.
"Two..." I passed my fingers on the edge of the knife. Be precise Vincent.
"Do take care sir" Boris responded.
I nodded and unlocked the door as Boris sped.
Remember your training.
"Three!"
