Chapter 12

The next day I went home. Yumiko was happy to see me. She said the Kazekage wanted to see me. I shrugged and said okay.

I left to go to the office.

I made it there and knocked. I heard someone say enter. I walked into see my favorite sand team. "Hello Akemi. I have something important to tell you."He greeted me I nodded and walked to the wall where there was a chair that had some books on it. I put the books on the floor and carried it to in front of his desk and sat down. "Okay let's get talking." I said smiling they all just looked at each other.

"What?"I asked a little annoyed. They all look at the Kazekage. "I have decided that you and my children will enter the chunin exams in the hidden leaf village." I made a face. "I thought only a team of three can enter?" I said thoughtfully. "So that may be. I worked something out with the Hokage. One of you is to go with out any ninja weapons. Seeing as Gaara doesn't use any I thought it would be fine." Everyone's mouths were open.

"No offense Rasa but I think your crazy. I'll do what you want because I have no choice, but I still think you're crazy." I said getting up. He just nodded and smiled. "You will be leaving tomorrow. Oh and take Yumiko with you. She isn't taking part in the exams I just want Akemi to protect her. Akemi protect her at any costs okay? Plus she has excellent healing abilities." I nodded confused on what he meant but nodded anyway.

~outside the office building~

"Akemi you're the crazy one calling our father by his name. You truly are fearless. If one of us or anyone would have called him that we would be dead." Kankuro told me.

"Not if he told you to call him that." I said remembering he told me to call him that. His mouth fell open. "What? Your father is a very nice guy once you get past the mean Kazekage part. He can be mean and strict but he is also lonely. So I told him I was his friend. Then a couple of weeks later he said call him by his first name." I said making it a short story.

"Wow okay. That just proves you are a likeable person because he is a cold hearted man. Everyone knows that. Anyway let's get to your apartment so we can get Yumiko informed." I nodded to him.

We arrived at the apartment and went in and told Yumiko we were going on a mission. She nodded and said she was going to prepare.

"Hey. Can I stay here for the night? I don't want to go home today." Kankuro asked. "What about packing? Won't you need equipment and such." I said he shook his head.

"Already done. I always have scrolls packed up with ninja gear and food and clothes. For surprise missions." I nodded. He smiled and sat on the couch.

I sat down beside him and pulled out a book from the table drawer. The book was suddenly snatched from my hand. I gasped then looked over. "Really?" I asked him faking anger. He laughed and then said "Let's do something else besides read. Anything but reading because reading is boring." I just looked at him. "Fine. I have been thinking to get a pet. I have been lonely here in this village by myself. Have any ideas where to get one?" He looked at me then lied down on my lap. I jumped slightly but relaxed.

"Not in the sand. I think there maybe a pet store somewhere in the Leaf. Tell you what when we arrive there I will help you look. I will but I don't think I should." He said looking me in the eye. "Why didn't you tell me you felt lonely?" He said reaching up to play with my hair. I shrugged " I didn't want you to find out because I didn't want you to worry. Or think you were not being a good enough friend." I told him running my hand through his hair.

"Also you can be with me 24/7 and I will still be a little lonely only because I miss my sister. There has always been a hole where she was, and now she is lost. I don't think even you can fix it." I told him still running my hand through his hair. He sighed "Well I'm always here for you. I know I can't fix the hole in your heart, but what I think is that the holes that people leave in others is what makes people them." I nodded in agreeance. I didn't want to look at him because I felt like I was going to cry.
