Another Kankuro Love Story

chapter 6

Turns out our mission was in a forest a little ways past the village hidden in the mist. Which was wonderful and great for me, but not for Kankuro Temari and Gaara.

I couldn't help but smile at the sight sound and smell of the grounds I was basically trained on. I never knew I missed it so much.

"What are you smiling about?" Kankuro asked jumping over to where I was. "Nothing. I just love this land because this is where my father decided to train my sister and I. So it holds a lot of memories for me." I said remembering some of the training I went through.

"Oh well that is great I guess for you but remember we are sand ninja we are not used to the rain or trees for a matter of fact." He said trying to get a point across.

Then I thought of something what if my father shows up. What will I do run and leave my team and father or face him or try and apologize for running away and ask for forgiveness? I wasn't sure then I looked up to see Gaara looking at me from the side of his eye.

I always heard he was a scary person who would kill the second he got the chance. I don't believe that. He is not that scary and this is my second time meeting him. Sure the eyeliner can be a little alarming at first but it's not that bad. I then realized I was staring and looked back down at the trees I was jumping on.

"Guy's I think we should find somewhere to stop like a cave or Grove of trees because the rain is getting worse. I maybe be used to it but you guys are not." I yelled over the rain they nodded in agreeance.

When finally found a cave big enough for all four of us. I guess counting Kankuro's mummy thing Temari's huge fan, and Gaara's gourd which he kept close by him. I on the other hand had no gear to unpack in stead I offered them bottles of water that I brought."Don't you need these in case a battle breaks out?" Temari asked. "No we are surrounded by water I can use any type of water I just prefer salt water." They just gave my a 'oh' face. Well Kankuro and Temari did Gaara stayed silent of course."Besides I'm more than capable of fighting with out water I know Tia jutsu pretty well my father trained me well for a abusive man he sure did know his ninja stuff."

They just nodded and turned back to the fire. Temari was the first out then Kankuro. Gaara stayed awake and so did I. "You should go to sleep. You can trust me enough to sleep. Besides if you think I am low enough to attack you in your sleep your wrong. I think of it as cheating in a fight if it is done that way." I said trying to get him to relax. "I don't sleep I have insomnia." Gaara said in a emotionless voice.

"Oh" I said letting that sink in. "You can sleep though by all means I won't harm you haven't done anything yet."Gaara said to me. "Uh...Okay but I'm not tired...Okay so I have a question if you don't mind answering me."I said to him."Ok shoot."He said with a monotone voice but under neath I could here the confusion.

"Why is everyone so scared of you? I don't understand that you're no that scary. I mean the eyeliner is a little frightening at first but it's cool after a little bit of looking at it." I asked my question and then silence he just sat there like he has never been asked that. Then he spoke "I have a monster inside of me named Shikaku and so everyone is scared that I will loose control even my own family is scared of me." I just sat there feeling sad for him then I felt a tear slip down my cheek.

He looked at me in surprise. "I didn't mean to make you cry." I shook my head "I just feel bad that you are treated so badly for a monster inside you. People only see the monster they don't see the person which is horrible I wish people were not so horrible. You don't deserve to be treated badly over something that wasn't your fault." I said looking him straight in the eye's which had a look of shock in them. Gaara just looked into the small fire we had going. "You should get some sleep. We have a lot of traveling to do tomorrow." He said not looking up I nodded.

Before I fell asleep I seen him clutching his chest as if in pain but I decided not to bother him anymore because he looked like he wanted to be alone.
