EXTENDED SUMMARY Velma Mitchell had a knack for solving mysteries around her hometown of Derry, Maine. Perhaps it was her awfully similar first name to the Scooby Gang character that destined her to be exemplary at the skill, or maybe it was just her wide eyes that always seemed to catch things others didn't. She had her own column in the middle school paper for her findings, most times the inked section telling about how she found Stan Uris' lost yamaka or Eddie Cocoron's favorite pencil that was thought to be gone forever. Suddenly, almost over night, a much bigger feat falls in her lap as her classes slowly slim down one person at a time, Velma starting to take notice to the plethora of MISSING posters tacked over one another on the large cork board. Kids were disappearing at an alarming rate, and the Mitchell girl had a growing worry that this was a mystery to never be solved, no matter her valiant efforts. But then Bill Denborough comes to her with watery eyes and pouted lips, sputtering about his lost brother, and suddenly the brunette is doing everything she can to find the lost children. No matter what killer clown stands in her way.
NOTES — velma is really smart & calculates basically everything
— she often reads too deep into conversations & sets up for awkward moments, so kids tend to avoid her gazes and chances to speak w/ her
— joins the losers club @ the barrens after bill invites her to help w/ the search for georgie
— bumps heads with richie a lot
— sees bill as a friend at first, & notices everytime he glances over @ beverly ( realizes she likes him & is like "well shit" )
— HER & BEV GET ALONG DONT PIT THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER
— richie makes shitty scooby doo jokes & it annoys velma to no end
— weird sense of humor, only stan gets it most of the time*
— her & bill are the cliche "yeah i love them in a totally friend way but maybe more" couple
— her biggest fear is disappointing the losers club that she's not as good at solving mysteries as her reputation says*
