EXTENDED SUMMARY: In a perfect world where the stars aligned just right in the night sky, and the universe played in her favor, Valerie Parker would not be trapped within the walls of Derry, Maine. She wouldn't have to come home to parents higher than a kite, or live off of frozen dinners from the back of the freezer. And she certainly wouldn't have to be ashamed of being seen with Mike Hanlon, the soft spoken homeschooled boy who lived by her house. But instead she was trapped at her local middle school, stuck with trying to avoid Greta Keene and her band of goons who scrunchies were so tight, Valerie was sure it was cutting off the already limited circulation to their brains. She was stuck in a dirt town with adults who turned a blind eye to growing problems within the city limits, and boy, did the girl wish she could rewrite the stars. Only when a killer clown shows up, does the ginger realize she got a bit more than she bargained for after wishing for a twist of fate.
