EXTENDED SUMMARY Murphy Hampton was cursed. And he blamed his stoner parents for naming him after such an unfortunate discovery. The boy could seldom do anything right, always passing classes by the skin of his teeth and constantly running into Henry Bowers at the urinal. He couldn't make friends and never found himself attracted to girls no matter how hard he tried or how many crude jokes Richie Tozier made about their bodies. He was a firm believer in Murphy's Law, seeing as his whole life was a prime example. So when a killer clown started terrorizing the small town of Derry, Maine, Murphy was hardly phased, because after all, his existence was one long series of unfortunate events.
