EXTENDED SUMMARY Dylan Connor had gone through a lot for a girl her age. Her mother had just arrived back from the psych ward, leaving the young girl to be her only caretaker. She thought life could not get worse, everyday the same bleak routine, until she meets a fiery young girl in her Social Studies class, Beverly Marsh. Things were going perfect, the two of them closely knit and barely letting anyone else join them. When Dylan picks up on some odd behavior going on between her and the schools losers, Bill and Ben. She gets furious with Beverly, their friendship slowly deteriorating, until Dylan realizes something. She was going to get her girl back, no matter how many demon clowns (or needy boys) stand between them.
NOTES - dylan is independent, her mom is insane and she has to fend for herself.this should be a big part in the story, considering she hates being alone, and is used to having bev by her side
- dylan is bipolar, takes medicine, and has very severe cases throughout the book (around 3, what happens is to you)
- beverly starting to obviously flirt with two boys is like a betrayal to dylan, and she feels so sad when it first happens (when ben and bev talk at the last day of school)
- richie and dylan bond, the two of them hotheaded, vulgar, and desperate for attention from their peers. before richie even knows that dylan and bev are friends, he tells the losers they should let her in (they also confess their fear of loneliness and abandonment to each other)
- hates bill with a passion, finds it harder to hate ben bc he's a babe
- dylan's main fear is the fear of never waking up. pennywise shows her images of her dad, who died in his sleep from drug overdose, chasing after her and offering her pills (she has severe insomnia, because sleep scares her)
- bittersweet ending, bev moves to portland at the end, as dylan's last words to her is the confession of her feelings, which with the help of richie she starts to understand throughout the book , they kiss and bev leaves
- dylan has hobbies, death metal, rude comments, and secretly plays ukulele bc she's a real softie okay ? (give her more hobbies bc she needs to spend her time while planning how to get her girlfriend back)
