EXTENDED SUMMARY Lucas Sinclair couldn't have thought of a worse way to spend his summer than miles away from his best friends in a shabby Maine town with his estranged aunt. But after a recent scandal with Will Byers, the boy who came back to life, his parents think that some fresh scenery and a temporary escape from Hawkins could be good for him. But not long after his arrival, Lucas realizes that although he was shipped off to Derry to escape supernatural happenings, he may have just gotten himself into a deeper mess. Because he could hardly handle a demogorgon, let alone a child eating clown.
