brendon was sitting in the waiting room for at least forty-five minutes before anyone came to talk to him. in that time, he'd managed to drink two cups of coffee - and as a result was completely awake again. he knew it wasn't healthy, he really should get some proper sleep, but he knew that he most likely wouldn't be able to. he'd probably only slept for a few hours in the last four days. brendon sighed and stood up, throwing away his coffee cup and making himself a hot chocolate instead. the after-taste of coffee wasn't that nice. gee would strongly disagree but brendon didn't see what was so nice about it. just then, the nurse that brendon had spoke to earlier walked into the waiting room.

"brendon?" again, she waited until brendon had lifted his head to look at her. "ryan was stable enough to be moved, so other nurses and doctors are attending to him now. it should take about fifteen minutes longer, as they have to get him wired up to all of the machines again before you can go in and see him. he's now in room 21 on the second floor. we've told his parents, but you may want to tell your friends. i assume they're coming later? well, the rules this time is that you can all go in." she paused. "however, he is in there with another patient. he woke up a couple of days ago, but he's still a little unstable. he does have a couple of visitors quite regularly, so if they seem uncomfortable with the load of you in there - or they ask if you could leave, please do. the same with them. if you would like to have some alone time with ryan, don't be afraid to ask them to leave the room for a minute - they'd understand. everything okay?" brendon nodded, and murmured a small 'thank you' before watching the nurse smile again and leave him alone again.

great. now at least one stranger would seem him being weak. hardly anybody saw him cry, or be stuck in a state like this. now someone he didn't know or trust at all would see him at his worst. and he really, really didn't want that. in some ways, brendon wished that ryan hadn't had to move rooms - so that he was on his own. but at the same time, it meant ryan was recovering - and that's all that brendon really wanted. the fact that ryan was well enough to move rooms gave him a wisp of hope that ryan would wake up soon. anyway, brendon decided to call spencer about where ryan had been moved to. besides, he was pretty sure it was still their lunch hour anyway. pretty much the second after the first ring, spencer picked up.

"hey bren! are you feeling a little better now? hals told me what you text her. and before you say sorry, it's cool. we understand."

"yeah, i'm feeling a bit better. and i'm still going to say sorry anyways. i really had no excuse for yelling at you. the fact that i'm sleep deprived is my own fault - i shouldn't have taken it out on you."

"i told you, it's fine. now, apologising can't be the only reason you called. you would've said sorry over text."

"oh, yeah. you know before, when i said they were running tests on ryan?" brendon paused, until a sound of acknowledgement came from spencer. "anyways, they finished, and well, ryan's well enough to be moved. i just need to sit here for a little bit longer - probably ten minutes now - just until they've moved ryan and hooked him back up to the machines again. also, he's now in there with someone else, who's awake. when he has visitors, we just have to leave if or when they ask, and they do the same for us."

"okay, that's good! it means he's recovering. we're coming over with pizza later, so we'll bring extra - just in case some other people turn up. if they don't, that just means a few more slices for us. wait, what room is he in now?"

"thanks spence." brendon laughed a little. "ryan's in room 21 on the second floor now. i'll ring you again if anything changes, though."

"okay, thanks bren!"

"bye, see you later."

"byee." after that, brendon hung up, and quickly downed his hot chocolate. he had no idea how, but it had got a little cold from the start of the call to the end. now he mentioned it, the waiting room was actually getting a bit cold in general. brendon sighed, un-doing the hoodie from around his waist and putting it on. he pulled the sleeves down over his hands and put the hood over his head. a five minute nap wouldn't hurt, he needed an eye-rest at least - even if he didn't actually fall asleep, it would help him stay awake for longer, along with the coffee.
