Chapter Twenty-three
This chapter is dedicated to Ate JhingBautista. Salamat sa inspirasyon. 😍
[Mikho's POV]
We flew in back here in Cebu. Our plane had landed in one of our hotels on the nearby island of the city. Dad and mom already contacted who has to be contacted. Dad pulled off all his connections and that includes one of the retired chief generals of PNP. Kuya Elj was the one who was in charge of the thing outside. He said a warrant was already issued para ako madakip. Wanted na ako and the news has spread nationwide.
"Your mom and I had been through a lot Mikholai. And we always go through all of those. Lahat ng nangyari sa inyo ng mga kapatid mo at sa pamilya natin. Gagawin ko lahat ng makakaya ko para managot ang dapat managot kahit na tatay pa 'yan ng asawa mo. Inaasahan ko na maging matatag ka dahil ikaw ang padre de pamilya. You have to stand for your family. This is not the time na dapat panghinaan ka ng loob, " dad said as calmly as he could while I raked my hands through my head. Enna was in the other room with mom and the doctor whom I ask dad to call para siya matingnan. I hope she'd bear whatever mom has to say. Mom insisted on explaining everything to Enna. But I know that this is inevitable and that she needs to know.
I let mom because I don't know if I'll be able to explain to her everything. I might break down again. Hindi ko na kayang nakikita siyang umiiyak.
"Sobrang mali ba ng ginawa ko dad? I never thought that thinking and doing of what's better will only do harm for her. Hindi ko sinadya. If I have known hindi ko na sana siya dinala sa pamilya niya. Dapat nakinig ako sa inyo ni mommy. I should have accepted your offer but I prided myself. Hindi dapat sana nangyari ang lahat ng 'to..."
"Those can't be undone. Hindi mo ginusto ang nangyari, anak. You choose to do the good things but good things don't always follow after. I know you know better dahil nag-aral ka sa seminaryo. You and our family is being put to a test. And life isn't life if this test isn't a part of it. We will get through this, " dad answered and gave my shoulder a squeeze of encouragement then sighed. "I really thought you and Enna were fine. Tumatawag kami, hindi niyo sinasagot ni Enna ang tawag but you' re constantly texting your mom that you and Enna are okay. Wala kaming alam sa nangyari sa inyo. Naging sobrang busy rin sa negosyo ang kuya Elijah mo," dad added with disdain in his voice.
I clenched my hands. Enna's father must have purposely taken our cellphones to do that, make them believe that we were okay. They set us up all along. Alam nilang tatawag at mangangamusta sila mommy.
We heard a knock kaya natigilan kami ni daddy. The doctor came in.
I heaved out and stood up "Kamusta ang asawa ko, doc?"
Tiningtigan ako ng doktor. "Her vital signs are stable, the baby's heartbeat is okay. But she's emotionally unstable. She might be well for now pero malaki ang naging epekto sa kanya ng mga nangyari, she's at risk for depression. As for now, she's already manifesting signs of it. Ang magagawa niyo ay ang samahan siya lagi. Give her words of encouragement. She needs your utmost understanding and love. Depression is serious, if worst it may lead to permanent instability of her mind and this might affect her pregnancy. But for now, she's well, I'm just saying the worst," he explained and gave me his prescription and a few medications for mine and Enna. "Kailangan mong linisan ang sugat mo araw-araw para maiwasan natin ang infection. You also have to take that antibiotic."
