Chapter Twenty- Seven

[Mikho's POV]

LOVE is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

I took Enna's hand and brought it to my lips as we listened to Keil giving his sermon. My little angel had already slept in my arms. My son's quietly listening habang nakaupo sa kandungan ni Manang.

Not once but often I have questioned God kung bakit Niya pinahintulutang ibinigay sa'min lahat.

It was then that I realized how much favor God had given me. He gave me the grace to Love Enna so much that until now I couldn't still fathom were it comes from. That grace kept us until now. Kahit marami akong pagkakamaling nagawa.

I knew how much she blames herself of how the kids had become. Pero alam kung pinipilit niyang labanan iyon. My Enna's way way stronger than what she seems.

I thank Him that I still have Enna. Na hindi siya tuluyang nawala sa'kin.

And I trust Him that sooner He will give the healing that my Enna needs. That eventually she will forgive herself and accept our kids.

"I love you, " I whispered when she averted her eyes to me.

" I love you, too. "

Love indeed, never fails.

Sometime fours years ago...

"We undergo the five stages of grief when we face loss and each person's recovery varies because we have different coping mechanisms. In your wife's case, she faced successive traumas. Before the time she has to reach the fifth stage which is acceptance, another significant trauma happened and another. She had been abused against her will by the time she was pregnant by her family, she was raped, she also carried the burden of what her family did to you and she lost your baby. For a young girl like her, that is too much to handle. All of those shadowed her with worthlessness, self-guilt, shame, hopelessness, helplessness that made her battle within herself. All of these made her hard to cope until the fifth stage," explained the doctor. " She blamed herself for your baby's loss so to be able to compensate for the loss she wanted to have a new baby, through the ways she knows that is safe. This is a means also to absolve her from guilt temporarily and or her means of escape. It's a way to bring immediate relief to her problem but I don't think it's a good idea. To overcome the loss she needs to accept it first otherwise what she's asking you to do will make her more miserable and may bring even more damage for her. "
