Chapter Twenty Four
After four years...
[Mikho's POV]
I FLUTTERED my eyes open when I felt little fingers poking down my cheek. I smiled when I saw two sets of eyes that were the same as mine. I decided to get up and hauled him in my arms.
"You're hungry, aren't you?"
Uri only touched his tummy in response and looked at his sister who was still deeply asleep beside us. He was about to poke his sister's cheek but I caught his hand.
"Mamaya mo na gisingin si Sari. Masyado mong pinagod ang kapatid mo sa paglalaro," I raked my hand through his hair and stood up careful not to wake Sari up.
I kissed his head. "Papa has to cook," I took the menu on top of the counter and showed him the list of food we made for him and Sari. Para hindi kami mahirapan. "What would you like?"
He looked at the menu for some time and pointed at two pictures of the food that he wants.
"You like almond cookies?"
He nodded.
"What about the strawberry muffins?"
He looked at the menu and when he couldn't find any answer si Manang ang tinuro niya.
His eyes began to water and his hand began gesturing pointing at the menu and Manang Marla. I heaved out, feeling that painful squeeze in my chest. I could feel my son's frustration and I feel sorry because I couldn't do anything.
"Tama na. It's alright. Manang huwag na natin siyang pilitin. " I knew Manang knows that he meant to give that for Sari. What he meant by pointing Manang was her gender.
"This is for Sari, right?" I asked my son and he nodded. Pinunasan ko ang luha niya. "Kay Nanay Marla ka muna. Papa has to cook."
Thankfully he nodded. My son has never eaten anything na hindi ko luto. Siguro dahil nasanay siyang nasa tabi niya ako lagi. Sari though eats wathever she sees that is edible. I guess when you start to become a father magagawa mo talaga ang kahit na ano lalo na at para sa mga anak mo. I can cook but baking has never been my option. My sister, Cassie taught me how to bake and lend me her recipes lately because the kids are starting to grow. I was watchful of their diet kaya ginusto ko narin ang pagbi-bake para sa kanila. I have been hands on to being a father and a house husband since they were born.
Sari was clutching her little purple hotdog pillow on the right and her left hand was tapping the wall. There were safety paddings on each corner of the house's wall but I was extra cautious because of Sari's eye condition.
