Dirk's pov-

My brother, Dave, should be here soon. I wasn't really prepared for this. I mean I knew that Dave and John had decided to adopt but I didn't think it would be this soon. I wasn't ready to be an uncle. I just wasn't ready. "Dirk? Are you okay?" Jake asked, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist. I flinched. I hadn't really gotten used to him doing that yet. I wasn't used to anything, I guess. I nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine." Jake let me go. "You are stressing again." I shook my head. "I said I was fine." I turned around to face him. He was frowning. "Don't frown. It'll ruin your features." He sighed. "Dirk, just admit it. You're nervous. You aren't ready for your little brother to have kids. I can see it. Even though you are hiding behind your shades. I know that you don't Dave to grow up and have kids. You don't want to be uncle. You aren't ready." I sighed. He was right. I was afraid of this. Striders normally aren't scared of anything. We were supposed to be used things like this. But I wasn't. I wasn't ready for change. Jake kissed my cheek. "Don't worry Dirk. I'll be here with you. No matter what." He smiled. "Plus, you have to be there for Dave. He is your brother." I nodded. "I hate it when you're right." He giggled. "I know." I opened my mouth to say something when there was a knock on the door. Crap. they're here.
