Adoption Day

Time to go

John's Pov-

        I walked downstairs early the next morning. I was set on going back to New York tonight. I was exhausted. I just wanted to go back my normal life. I shuffled into the living room to see if Dave was awake. I had to choke back a laugh when I looked at the couch. Dave and Jade were sprawled out on the couch together. Dave was laying on one end. One leg was flung over the back of the couch, the other was resting one the floor. One of his hands was resting behind his head and the other was draped over the edge of couch. Jade on the other hand was curled up on the other end of the couch, with one foot in Dave's face. Her mouth was wide open and her glasses were askew. They looked like they had crashed after being awake for several hours. I walked around the couch, trying not to disturb the two. I went into the kitchen to prepare some breakfast.

        "Morn...ing" Dave walked into the kitchen, yawning. He walked up to me and kissed the side of my head. "Morning." I said, reaching for the cup of coffee I made. I handed it to him. "Thanks." He kissed me again. "Get a room!" I heard Jade call jokingly from the living room. "We are in a room." Dave said, heading out of the kitchen. I snorted. "Those two."

        "Thanks for the breakfast John." Jade spoke around around a mouthful of eggs. "You're welcome." I smiled at her. "This'll be the last home cooked meal from me for awhile. Unless you come to New York." She pouted but quickly smiled. "I'll be sure to visit you alot then!" Dave snorted. "As long as you don't bring that mutt of yours." Jade narrowed her eyes at him. "Bec is not a mutt!" I stood up from love seat. I didn't want to be in the middle of their tiny quarrel. "Give me proof tha..." I quickly walked up the stairs, ignoring the feud that was brewing downstairs.

        "Its time to goooo girls!" I shouted, walking through my bedroom door. Ryan sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Hm? What?" I shook River awake. "C'mon you two. We're going back to New York." River sat up. She yawned. "Hm? Really?" I nodded. "Yeah, now c'mon get ready. We're leaving soon."

-Time Skip-

        We loaded everything that we had, which wasn't much, into Dave's car. We had to wait for dad to get back from the store before we could leave. I had to say goodbye to him. "Dad says he'll be back in about five minutes." Jade sat on the couch Indian style. I nodded. I sat down on the loveseat. River climbed into my lap. "Do we really have to say goodbye to Aunt Jade and Grandpa?" She asked. I nodded. "Yeah, Its time for us to back to our home." She sighed. "I guess." Dave sat down next to me. "It won't be so bad. Jade can come see whenever she wants to. And Grandpa, well we can see him during the holidays." River nodded. "That's okay then." Ryan snorted, climbing into Dave's lap. "What now, Ry?" River looked at her sister.  "Just you. You always say things like that. Its always funny." River snorted. "Whatever." Jade laughed. "They're so cute!"

        "You guys leaving?" Dad asked, walking out the front door with us. "Yeah, we have to." I threw myself at him, wrapping my arms around him. "I missed you. I hate to leave." I mumbled into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me. "I missed you to son."  I pulled away from him to engulf Jade in a hug. "I missed you too Jade! Please don't go away for so long next time. And come see us real soon, okay!" She quickly hugged me back. "Of course! I'll come and see you guys really soon!" I smiled and stepped away from her. I turned away from my family and walked away from the house. I ran to Dave's car. I turned back to look at the two family members standing on the front porch. I waved at them and climbed into the car. "Ready to go?" Dave asked, starting the car. I nodded. "Yep!" He pulled out of the drive way. I looked back at house. I smiled as we drove off. Its time to go back to our old life. Back to normal.
