Dave's POV

"John?" I looked over at him. He was smiling that broad smile of his. He turned to me. "Yeah, Dave?" I sighed. "Are we ready for this?" He nodded. "I know that this may be hard for you cause you Striders aren't used to change." I opened my mouth to say something but he continued. "But this is what we have been waiting for. We made a promise that we were going to adopt after five years and this is it. We finally made it and we are ready." I sighed. I leaned over and kissed him on lightly on the lips. "I love you." His smile got wider, if that was even possible. " I love you too." The twins made gagging sounds. "Eww!!" I laughed and knocked on the door. There is no turning back now.

We waited a few seconds before I got impatient. "Oh for the love of..." I twisted the doorknob, knowing the door wouldn't be locked. Dirk never locked doors. It was a habit he picked up from Derek(Bro) when we used to live in the apartment. We didn't have to worry about burglars because we could just fight them with our katanas. And Jake didn't really know what a lock was because he had lived in a jungle for over half of his life. So the door was never locked. I don't even know why I knocked. "Dirk! Jake!" I yelled. I motioned for John and the twins to walk into the house. "Dirk, c'mon out here love!" I could hear Jake call. "No! I'm not prepared for this!" Dirk yelled back. "You are acting childish. please just c..." Jake's voice faded away. A few seconds later I heard a door close. I heard a few thuds coming from the bedroom. "Are they ok?" River asked. "Yeah. They do this a lot." John answered. I could hear a door open. "...rk. It's alright." Dirk and Jake walked out into the living room where John, River, Ryan and I stood. "Girls, meet uncle Dirk and Jake."
