Calum's P.O.V

"Captain America, all the way" I said with out a doubt and Kylie scoffed.

"You are insane. Spider man is obviously the best super hero alive." She stated.

"You know what, your just jealous Captain America had better pecks than Spider Man." I shot back.

We have been arguing about this for about half an hour. We got here at about 1:00 pm and right now it's like 6:00 pm. The whole time we just sat on her bed and babbled on about random things. We never talked about anything to deep. Whenever I even tried she would get angry or shoot me down so I just gave up....for the moment.

Kylie opened her mouth and was about to say something but I put my finger to her lips. "Shhhhh, don't hate, appreciate." I said softly. Suddenly I felt teeth softly nip my finger and looked over to Kylie who was quietly chuckling.

"Did you just bite me." I gasped.

"I'm getting pretty hungry and you sorta taste like salami." She deviously looked at me wiggling her eyebrows. I stared at her and started laughing.

"I get that a lot. Trust me the lady's love a man who smells like a meat locker." I said and pinched the top of my shirt and puffed it out. Kylie laughed and got off her bed and started walking towards a black vanity she had across her room.

"What are you doing?" I asked. She didn't answer and opened cabinet on the bottom and pulled out a whole big bag of starburst.

"Secret stash. You know in case of an apocalypse or something." She stated and I started to laugh uncontrollably.

"Genius." I chocked out in between laugh. Just as Kylie moved out of the way from the cabinet, which she left open, I saw something.

"No way." I hopped off her bed and made my way over to the cabinet.

My eyes grazed over the multiple stacks of books and journals. There's Nicolas Sparks books, John Green books, and don't even get me started on all the Hobbit, Narnia, and Harry Potter books filling up the cabinet.

I went in and grabbed a random book. Apparently I happened to get a Nicholas Sparks book called 'Safe Haven'. I opened it to a random page and briefly saw all the highlighted and underlined sentences, before the book slammed shut and was ripped out of my hands. I looked over to Kylie and it looked almost liked she was going to explode.

"It's considered rude to go through peoples things." She said slowly and angrily. I wasn't really bothered by her intimidation. To be honest to me she looks to small and dainty to do any actual damage but I would never tell her that because she would probably prove me wrong in a instant and she has before.

I looked at her with absolute wonder. Who is this girl? I knew she was different but this, secret smarts!!! I mean she read and highlighted all those books. That's amazing, I only read books when I have to. I am completely wonder struck by this small detail about her.

I realized she was still staring at me. Eyes narrowed, lips formed into a line, her skinny fingers furiously tapping the book she placed on top of her table. I desperately wanted Kylie to like me. It's so odd. I am Calum Hood, everyone likes me. For some reason she hates my guts. Before the project, before we even talked. I remember walking down the hallways and anytime we would glance at each other she would scoff or roll her eyes at me. She always looked so happy with her friends or when I would see her at the skate park. What did I ever do to her to make her hate me so much?

"Calum!?!" She snapped her fingerings in front of my face.

"Huh....what?" I snapped out of my thoughts.

"What's your problem?" She asked shaking her head at me.

"I-um-I'm sorry. You know a-about snooping. I was just curious. I promise I won't do it again." I stuttered out just trying to get on her good side. She looked at me with knitted eyebrows and then slowly eased her face.

"Curiosity killed the cat." She said and slightly smiled. I smiled too.

"Don't you mean 'Curiosity killed the Calum'." I stated and Kylie started to chuckle.

"Not yet." She said and flicked a piece of her lilac hair out of her face and plopped on her bed. I always wondered what the explanation was as to why she died her hair that color. I wonder what her natural hair looks like.

A silence fell over us. Not really a awkward silence but more of a 'I don't know what to say' silence. The thing is, I do know what to say, I am just scared to say it......................Screw it.

"Kylie......" I said.

"Mhm" She replied, looking up tho her plane white ceiling.

"I-er-I just wanted to ask you if uhh......you wanted to be................friends ." I stuttered nervously. If feel like a idiot now. I hate being rejected. Kylie remained quiet for a few more moments.

"What, are we in third grade?" She chuckled. I'm glad she was enjoying this because I am practically dying of nerves. She looked at me and saw that my frantic expression has not left my face and she remained quiet again. Yup, she is going to reject me. I should probably leave before things get awkward. Just as I was beginning to sit up from her bed she grabbed my wrist.

"Yes" She simply said while still looking up at her ceiling.
