I got up the next morning, looking next to me to see Cassidee still asleep. I carefully got out of the bed, making sure not to wake her, and walked downstairs into the kitchen. The letter was still on the counter where I left it yesterday and I picked it up, toying with the edges of the paper.
There was a knock at the door and I knew exactly who it was. I carried the letter into the living room with me, unlocking and opening the door to see Ricky and Angelo standing on the porch. I let them in, closing the door, and sat down on the couch.
''Just read the results. Get it done and over with.'' Ricky said.
''I can't.''
''Why?"
''I'm scared.''
''Of what, dude?'' Angelo asked.
''Getting heartbroken. If she's mine, I'll be forever grateful she came into my life, but if she's not I'm going to be crushed. I've come to be attached to her and I care for her like my own. She needs to be protected.''
''If Cassidee is not your's Ange and I both know you'll take excellent care of her and raise her like your own flesh and blood and we'll support you too.'' I nodded my head and unfolded the letter for a second time.

"Well? What's it say?" Ricky asked.
''She's mine.'' I slightly smiled.
"That's great! That's what you were looking forward to, right?" Angelo asked. I looked down at the floor and shrugged my shoulders.
''I guess.''
''What's wrong?"
''I know nothing about raising a kid!"
''You came this far and you're doing so well! And we're going to support you and if you ever need a babysitter, I'm sure the girls wouldn't mind watching her.'' Ricky said.
''But I have no idea where or who her mother is! I never met or knew anyone by the name Samantha!''
''Search her on Facebook. Maybe she has a profile and you can talk to her?'' Angelo suggested.
''Daddy?!'' Cassidee screamed. I got up from the couch and ran upstairs to the bedroom. Cassidee was sitting up in bed, her hair a total mess.
''What's wrong?!"
''I woke up and you weren't there.'' Cassidee stood up and wrapped her little arms around my neck. I picked her up and carried her downstairs, setting her down on her feet.
''Total bed head.'' Ricky laughed.
''Wicky!'' She ran over to him and jumped in his lap.
''No love for you Ange.'' Ricky laughed, sticking out his tongue. Cassidee got up from Ricky's lap and jumped on Angelo.
''Looks like somebody had a change of heart.'' Angelo laughed, hugging Cassidee.
''Pssh!"
''That's because I'm her favorite, right Cass? Tell Ricky I'm your favorite.''
''Stop brainwashing her. She knows I'm her favorite.''
''Both of you stop brainwashing my kid.''
''Well if you did have a favorite, who would it be Cassidee?'' Angelo winked at her. She smiled, turning her head, and pointed at me.
''Daddy's my favorite.'' I smiled and kissed the top of her head.
''Looks like I outdid both of you.'' I laughed, picking up Cassidee.
''That's not fair. That's only because she's your daughter.'' Ricky laughed.
''Exactly. She's my daughter and it's going to be like that for the rest of our lives.'' I smiled.
