"Cassidee! Don't ruin your good clothes.'' I groaned, picking her up off the floor. I set her down on the couch and ran back into the kitchen, continuing to cook.
Tonight Sabrina was coming over for dinner and I'm sort of hoping she and Cassidee can meet on good terms. Well, especially Cassidee. I was chopping up some vegetables on the counter when Cassidee walked into the kitchen.
''Daddy? This goo is on fire.'' She pointed towards the stove. I quickly turned around and ran over to the boiling pot.
''It's fine! Now go on upstairs and wash up.''
''I already did! You bathed me and then I washed my hands a million times!" She complained, throwing her arms up.
''Well wash them a million and one times now.'' Cassidee groaned, walking out of the kitchen and upstairs. The doorbell rang and I ran out of the kitchen, opening the door to see Cassidee standing there.
''Haha.'' She laughed, pointing at me.
''You think you're so funny.'' I laughed, picking her up. I swung her in my arms and then hung her upside down as she laughed hysterically.
''I, uh, hope I'm not ruining anything?" I looked towards the door and saw Sabrina standing there. She had on a brown jacket, black skinny jeans, and brown boots.
''No! Come in!" I set Cassidee down and helped Sabrina take off her coat. "Cassidee just decided to prank her dad.''
''Very nice.'' She laughed, giving her a thumbs up.
''Don't encourage her." I chuckled. ''Come on dinner's almost ready.''
Cassidee picked up Sabrina's plate and silverware, moving it to the far end of the table.
''What are you doing?" I asked, placing food on the table.
''She sits there and I sit next to you.'' Great! Here we go again!
''Cass, you sit across from Sabrina, just for tonight.'' She huffed at me and sat in her seat, folding her arms.
''It doesn't make a difference where I sit.''
''Yes, it does.'' Cassidee smiled sweetly.
''Hey! Watch your attitude young lady.'' I warned, taking my seat next to Sabrina. "Sorry, it seems someone missed their afternoon nap.''
''She's fine, it's ok.'' Sabrina smiled.

Halfway into dinner and I already want to curl up in a fucking ball! I've never seen Cassidee act like such a spoiled brat! I thought I went over all this ''No one is going to take me away from you'' stuff! She has a very jealous bone in her body.
''So tell me more about this tour,'' Sabrina asked.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Cassidee getting ready to fling a spoonful of peas at Sabrina. I quickly grabbed the spoon from her, not missing a word or eye contact from Sabrina.
''Now tell me all about this one here.'' Sabrina smiled at Cassidee. ''Getting ready to start school soon?"
''Yep! She'll be enrolling in Kindergarten in the new year in August.'' I smiled. "She'll be off to school.''
''Hell no!" Sabrina gasped and raised her eyebrows.
''Cassidee Anne Cerulli! Go upstairs to your room now!"
''Fine!" She got out of her chair and ran upstairs, slamming her bedroom door.
''I am so sorry about her! I had no idea she was going to pull these stunts, let alone say that! I just really wanted tonight to go so well. Ever since we've been seeing each other, Cassidee turned complete demon child on me.''
''She's jealous and that's ok. That's good that Cassidee's protective of you, she cares about you.''
''A little too protective and I know she's jealous. I talked about it with her the other day, but I guess I'm not explaining it easy enough for a five-year-old.''
''Do you mind if I went up and talked to her?"
''Yeah, but if she starts puking green slime and her head starts spinning around, get the hell out of there.''
''Oh stop.'' Sabrina walked out of the kitchen and made her way upstairs.

Sabrina's POV
''Cassidee? Can I come in?" I asked, knocking at the door. I slowly opened the door and saw her laying on her bed, her back was towards me.
''Go away.'' I saw a small white stool by her desk and sat down on it.
''Whatever you want to tell me, tell me. This will be between us and I won't tell your dad about it.'' She lifted her head and looked at me. I gave her a small smile and crossed my heart.
''You stole my daddy.'' She buried her face into her pillow and cried her heart out. I got up and sat beside her, pushing some of her hair back.
''I know it looks like that, but I didn't. Your dad will always put you first, you're his little girl. Hey, you came into his life before I did and I tell you a little secret, I'm a little jealous that you already stole your dad's heart before me or any other person.''
''Really?"
''Sure!'' Cassidee lifted her head and gave a small smile. ''You are much too pretty to be crying.'' I smiled, wiping her face. ''And you know what?"
''What?"
''We'd get to have makeovers all the time when I visit your dad. Plus we can do a lot more girl things without boring old dad around.'' Cassidee chuckled. "No more tears?"
''No more tears.''
''Promise?"
''Pinky promise.'' Cassidee smiled and hooked our baby fingers together. I got up from the bed and walked over to the door to see Chris standing there.
''Spying on us,'' I smirked, closing the door.
''No!"
''Uh-huh,'' I said walking back downstairs.
''What happened in there?"
''I crossed my heart that I wouldn't tell you anything.''
''That's not fair!"
''Everything is ok now. She's happy, I'm happy, now you can be happy.'' I smiled, patting his cheek. ''I think me and Cassidee are going to get along just fine.''
