Three Months Later

Three months had passed since the incident with Cassidee and her mother. Cassidee is no longer enrolled in that school then and now goes to a whole new different school. Thankfully this school has better security standards.

"I'm home! Hello?" I called as I walked into the house with the groceries.

''Daddy!" Cassidee yelled, running in and hugging my legs.

''Hey, you! Where's Sabrina at?''

''In the bathroom.''

''Oh, okay, well let's get the groceries unpacked and get started on dinner.'' She ran into the kitchen as I followed behind her and set the groceries on the counter.

''Shit!" I turned around and saw Sabrina slowly walking into the kitchen.

''Hello to you too.'' I laughed, hugging her. "What was the cussing for?"

''Uhh, because seeing the groceries made me remember that I forgot to pick up eggs.''

I laughed and pulled out a carton of eggs from the bag. ''I picked them up, don't worry.''

''Oh good. I'll help with getting dinner started.''

She pulled out a stock of celery from the bag and walked over to the sink, washing it off. She was acting real strange today. I walked behind her and placed my hand on her shoulder.

''Are you ok?'' I whispered.

''Yeah, why?"

''I don't know, you just seem out of it today.'' She turned her face towards mine and smiled.

''Well, I assure you that I'm fine.''

''Okay.''

Dinner had ended hours ago and I had put Cassidee to bed. I walked into my bedroom and saw Sabrina already covered up in the bed. I turned off the light and crawled underneath the covers, getting myself ready for some needed sleep.

''Night,'' I said, pecking the top of Sabrina's head.

''Ugh.''

"What?"

''Just have a headache.''

''Oh okay.''

It was dead silent, except for the constant shuffling of the covers from Sabrina tossing and turning. I got fed up and sat up, turning on the small lamp on the bedside table.

''Why did you turn the light on?"

''Well you're tossing and turning and something is bothering you.''

She sighed, sitting upright in bed and folded her arms. ''What makes you say that?''

''You've been acting weird since I got home, you barely said anything at dinner and now you're tossing and turning in the bed, so what's up?"

''I'm just...I don't know, just can't get comfortable.''

''Because something is on your mind and it's keeping you from sleeping! Whatever is just tell me.''

She rested her head against the headboard and closed her eyes, sighing again. ''I'm pregnant.''

''Pre- WOAH WAIT A MINUTE!" I hollered, jumping out of bed.

''Shh! Cassidee's asleep!" She glared at me.

''Ho-How did that happen?"

''Maybe it's when we..what's the words..had sex!" I started pacing the bedroom back and forth, biting my nails.

''Well you know those tests aren't always dead-on accurate.''

''That's why I made an appointment in the morning at the clinic, just to make sure.''

I nodded my head agreeing with her. ''Okay, we'll take Cassidee to school in the morning and then head over to the doctors"
