"Chris? Can you hear me?" I opened up my eyes to see Sabrina standing beside me. The room was completely white, I had an IV in my hand and I was wearing a hospital gown.
''Ca-Cassidee? Where is she?" I croaked out, attempting to sit up.
''She's ok, Ricky took her over to Jess's with the twins.''
''What about Sa-''
''Don't worry about her, she's been dealt with.'' I nodded my head and closed my eyes.
''How could I let this happen? I'm such a horrible father.'' Sabrina sat on the side of my bed and grabbed my hand.
''No, you're not! You're the best damn thing Cassidee's got, so don't you say you're a horrible father because you're not. All the events that happened are because of her mother!"
''I promised her I would always protect her! I failed my daughter.''
''No, you didn't! You came to her and handled the situation the safest way possible.''
''Yeah and look what happened."
Sabrina sighed and lowered her head for a second. "How many times do I have to tell you that it wasn't your fault?! I told you everything happened because of Cassidee's mother and believe me she's paying for it. Now I'm going to let one of the nurses know you're up.''
Sabrina walked out of the room and left me lying, staring up at the ceiling. This event is something that I'm going to regret for the rest of my life.
