"His spirit is deteriorating." Annabeth spoke, her voice slightly shaking. "He's forcing his spirit to stay on this world."
"What do you mean?" Confusion was evident in Evelyn's tone of voice and her facial expressions, "What does this mean?"
"Taehyung saved your life. He saved you sixteen years ago when you were kidnapped."
Memories began to flood into Evelyn's head at an overwhelmingly fast pace. Her heart was pounding at the scenes she was seeing—the scenes that were parts of her past but she couldn't previously recall.
...
She was running.
Running as fast as she could, as fast as her legs could take her. A small hand gripped tightly onto her own, forcing her to speed up even faster.
"We're almost there..." It was the voice of a young boy, not much older than five. "We're almost there..."
When Taehyung decided to run around outside, he had no idea that he'd spot a young girl covered in wounds lying in an alley.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his large eyes widening. He'd never seen so much blood in the five years of his life—was she still alive?
The soft but audible sound of her breathing told him that she was indeed alive.
Taehyung bent down, brushing the hair out of her face. "Can you move?"
Pain.
It was all she could feel. So much pain.
Taehyung winced when he saw the cuts on her body, "Wait."
He began to head back to the hotel, wanting to get his parents but her small hand gripped tightly onto his leg.
"Don't—leave me—here—"
Taehyung turned around and bit his bottom lip in hesitation before speaking. "You think you could run?"
Three-year-old Evelyn pushed herself off of the ground, standing on her shaky legs. "I... can try."
Before they could get out of the alley, a man appeared at the back end. He clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Aish, another little brat."
The man walked towards Taehyung and Evelyn, the disgusting smirk on his face making Taehyung want to vomit. So, he did what his body told him to do.
He kicked him in the crotch.
The man screamed in pain, an angry scowl forming on his face as he curled over onto the floor in a ball. By now, Taehyung has taken Evelyn's hand and was leading her out of the dark alley.
After running for what seemed like forever, the bright sunlight made Evelyn squint. Taehyung turned around, a smile forming on his face. "We made it out."
Tears filled Evelyn's eyes. She escaped.
The brief moment of happiness was replaced soon with dread when she realized that she had no idea where she was.
"Where am I...?"
"We're in... Soul? Seoul?" Taehyung paused a bit, unsure of his prononciation. "I'm here for a family vacation."
