Wednesday 8th October
"I um.. I should lock up.." I said after a couple minutes. I walked away from the 4 of them, picking up the spray and cloth, before i began wiping down the first table.
"Here Charlotte, let me do it, i think you need to talk to Calum." I heard Luke whisper in my ear.
"Luke-"
"Go. I'll clear up." He ushered me away and took the spray and cloth of me. I sighed and walked over to where Calum was standing at the counter.
"Hey." I sighed after a couple minutes of silence.
"Hi." He whispered in reply, keeping his head down as he spoke. We stood in an awkward silence for a few minutes untill i got fed up. If he's not going to try then why should i.
I sighed and dropped my head before turning on my heels and walking into the staff room. I shoved past Ella and Ash and quickly grabbed my coat and bag.
"Woah, slow down there Charlotte." Ella joked with a small laugh, but i was not in the mood for joking.
"Oh, just, stuff it Ella." I snapped before running out of the staff room. I slowed down a little when i saw Calum. He was stood still, his hands shoved in his pockets, as his gaze was locked on the floor. He didn't even move. He was just stood there. I should have known, of course he didn't care. It was just stupid to think that he would even consider liking me. I shook my head, how could i have been so stupid. He's a celebrity. I am, just Charlotte. I couldn't stand to look at him anymore, he didn't even bother making an effort so instead, i did. I ran out.
I ran all the way home, feeling like my lungs would collapse on me any minute now. I aggressively routed through my coat pockets in an attempt to find my keys. I huffed in annoyance and sat down on my front doorstep. I laid my coat down flat as i began emptying the pockets. Okay so one pocket down and still no keys. I groaned, now growing impatient. Thats when i heard my name being called. My eyes darted up, and down the street, as they locked on him. He was running down the street yelling my name, until he got to the gate of my apartment. He stopped in his tracks and stared at me. I threw my coat to the side in annoyance and pulled my knees into my chest, completely ignoring his presence. I heard heavy footsteps coming to closer to me, causing me to tighten my grip on my legs. I felt him sit beside me, but this only caused me to shuffle away from him.
"You know, just because i stuck up for you back there, doesn't mean i forgive you." I whispered into my knees, not bothering to lift my head to look at him.
"I know." He sighed. We sat in silence once again. I huffed and grabbed my coat again looking through the pockets for my keys. "What are you doing?" He asked just above a whisper.
"Looking for my house keys so i can leave." I muttered, still routing through my coat pockets.
"Leave?" He choked out, which only made my blood boil.
"Yes Calum. Leave. Just like you did a month ago." I snapped, shoving my hand further into my pocket.
"Wh-why are you leaving?" He asked, barely above a whisper, but i didn't feel sorry for him anymore. No. he brought this upon himself.
"Well, because, i don't want to sit outside in the cold with a guy who lead me on, only to ditch me without warning, leaving only a text message. And then have him come back a month later and act as is nothing ever happened. Is that a satisfying answer Calum?" I snapped as i pulled out a bunch of rubbish from my pockets until i found my keys. I sighed in relief as i found them, throwing all the junk back in my pockets and standing up.
"That's a fair enough answer." He murmured to himself, not moving from his position. I scoffed at him a shook my head.
"I can't believe i actually began to like you." I sighed to myself as i unlocked my front door. I felt Calum's eyes on me as i walked inside.
"You did?" He asked just as i was about to shut the door. I stopped and re-opened the door.
"Well yes Calum i did. You were the first guy i actually came to grow fond off okay? But you know what, you screwed it up when you left." I snapped at him. He kept his back to me, still sitting on my doorstep.
"Charlotte i-" he started as he began turning around but i cut him off.
"Calum I'm sorry but i really don't want to hear what you have to say. You may have been the first guy i actually liked but you were also the first to hurt me. Cheesy as it may sound. It hurt when you left with nothing but a text message. And to know that i meant nothing to you, when you had quite the impact on me, that hurt even more." I sighed a little as he turned around fully and stood up.
"Charlotte-" i quickly interrupted him.
"I'm Charlotte now am i? After me telling you countless times to call me by real name, and countless times of you ignoring me. Now is the time you choose to use my name?" I questioned as I'm not going to lie. The one thing i missed most was his nicknames.
"Baby I'm sorry-" he pleaded but i shook my head, cutting him off.
"No Calum. No you're not. You knew exactly what you were doing. You knew i didn't like the idea of love. You knew that i wasn't ready for a heartbreak. Yet you did it anyway." My voice broke slightly.
"I don't know why I'm surprised really." I laughed as i wiped a little under my eyes. "Of course i knew this would happen. I knew from the start. I just chose to ignore it. I actually believed that maybe you thought i wasn't just another girl. But of course you just played me a little longer than the others, right?" I fidgeted with my fingers as i did't want to look him in the eyes.
"Char can you please just let me explain..." He sighed. I thought about all the possibilities of what could happen if i let him explain, and if i didn't. I mean if i let him explain then i'd probably end up forgiving him... but i can't give him that satisfaction. And if i don't let him explain then i'm completely screwed because i'll forever wonder why he did what he did... I needed to somehow meet in the middle... I finally looked up into his eyes and took a deep breath.
"No. Calum. Come back in 6 months times. Explain to me why you left. And then i might forgive you." I sighed and before he could say anything else i shut the door in his face. I dropped to my knees as soon as i closed the door. I held my head in my hands as i sobbed. I felt nothing but regret, but i knew i had to do it. I knew he'd have forgotten all about me in 6 months, and even moved on to another girl. And even though right now i felt like i didn't want to move on from Calum, i knew i had to do it. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Well if thats true then i suppose Calum and i will be okay...
