Tuesday 2nd September
"Here you go sir, enjoy." I smiled and passed the man on the other side of the counter his coffee.
"Thank you." He smiled as he walked off with his drink in hand and i retired to the staff room. I walked in and immediately i was greeted by Ella, who was spread across the sofa with her arms in the air as she tapped furiously on her phone.
"Oh for gods sake!!" She yelled at her phone as i walked over to where she was lying, before lifting her legs, sitting down and replacing her legs back on top of me.
"Flappy bird?" I guessed and let out a small laugh when she dropped her phone onto her face.
"Yes. And ow." She grumbled with the phone still sat on her face.
"You're such a loser." I rolled my eyes playfully as i reached for her phone and removed it from her face. She suddenly perked up and sat crossed legged facing me as i passed her phone back to her.
"Have you finished your shift?" She asked hopefully and i looked towards the clock to see it was 9:55pm and nodded with a sigh of relief. "You look tired." she pouted and i smiled slightly.
"Oh yeah, real tired after a hard days work serving coffee." I smirked and she rolled her eyes.
"I'm going to choose to ignore your sarcasm because i know you're tired." She said with a slight huff.
"I'm fine." I reassured and she raised an eyebrow at me, still not fully convinced. "Whatever. Come on lets go, if i have to look at another coffee cup it'll be too soon." I sighed before pushing myself up from the couch with Ella following suit.
"You say that every day." She mumbled and i nodded as i went to the other side of the room and picked up my coat before sliding it on. Then quickly grabbing my bag and slinging it over my shoulder. I walked back over to where Ella was, waiting by the door of the staff room, and poked her cheek making her furrow her eyebrows at me and swat my hand away.
"Because it's true." I pointed out and she shrugged in reply. We both walked out the room, i locked it behind us, before clearing and locking up the rest of the cafe and making our way to the door. I pulled open the door as Ella walked out the cafe, with me following behind her. I fumbled around with my keys before finding the correct one and locking the cafe door. I sighed in relief knowing another working day was over and turned to face Ella.
"See you tomorrow." I sighed with a small smile, in which she returned.
"Hey, take it easy Charlotte. Don't overwork yourself..." She smiled sympathetically and i nodded in reply as i shoved my keys back into my pocket.
"Goodnight Ella" I waved as she began walking in the opposite direction.
"Night Charlotte" She shouted over her shoulder as she continued to walk down the street. I pulled my phone out my pocket and unlocked it to see it was just after 10pm. I turned on my heels and began walking in the opposite direction in which Ella had walked.
