Losing The One You Love

A New Friend

Yo had been lost in his thoughts for a couple of hours now, but as the cold started to set in he decided to head to a nearby hotel. He had already thought about going back to his dorm but didn't want to risk running into Pha. As he thought about everything, all their wasted time spent together over the year, he started to well up again. Nothing he could do would prevent these tears from falling. Yo was too caught up in his emotions that he was hardly paying any attention to where he was going. In the mist of all this, Yo was so lost in his own mind that he didn't see the car speeding in his direction as he crossed the road. 

Yo was shaken back to reality when  a young, handsome stranger had pulled him off the road before the car could of ran him over. Yo was in a state of shock over what happened that he barely noticed the stranger was talking to him but once his senses had returned he looked up and saw a young man standing there in front of him. "Are you ok, you almost got yourself killed there buddy" the stranger spoke with kindness. Yo looked at him and smiled weakly, "Yes, sorry I did see the car coming. Thank you." The stranger could see the dried tear stains on the boys face and knew he had been crying. Something must have hurt him so badly that he lost his focus on his surroundings. 

"Hey. What's your name there" the kind stranger asked politely. "Umm" Yo stuttered "my friends call me Yo." "Well nice to meet you Yo my names Caleb." Unsure of what to do next Caleb approaches Yo with a small smile "Would you like to go grab some coffee? You look like you had a rough night and I know this cute little coffee place just around the corner." Yo wasn't sure how to proceed here, all he wanted to do was sleep but he felt he owed the guy at least one cup, for saving his life. After agreeing to accompany the guy they headed off towards the little coffee shop not far from here. On their short little walk Caleb learns that Yo is a 2nd science major at the nearby university, while Caleb tells Yo that instead of going to university he decided to work for his dads company. They arrive a few minutes later and sit down at a small table just inside. Yo had insisted because he felt a little cold. 

Once their drinks had arrived Caleb asked what a young boy like himself was doing out so late. Yo didn't know how to answer, he didn't know the guy in front of him but there was something about him that made Yo feel like he could trust him. After a few moments of silence Yo slowly starts to go on about everything that's happened. From the day he fell for Pha, to the day they official started dating, right up until tonight when he found out the man he loved was cheating on him. The tears just kept falling as Yo continued with his story, their drinks laid forgotten. Yo was still bawling his eyes out as Caleb moved next to Yo and wrapped his arm around him, telling him it would all be ok. Yo didn't know why he did but the moment Caleb's arm wrapped around him Yo pulled him into a hug. 

A couple of minutes went by like this before Caleb pulled Yo's face up to look at him. He began to wipe the tears away as he told Yo he knew how he felt. This time it was Caleb who started to get teary eyed as he went off about his ex. They had met in highschool, but it wasn't until their senior year that they started dating. It was when his ex went off to college that things had changed. It was subtle at first, just a few missed phone calls or unanswered texts. Then it became almost impossible to talk to him, as he always claimed he was busy with school work. Caleb decided to drop by one weekend to surprise his boyfriend for their 2nd year anniversary, he had even bought him a gold watch to celebrate when he found David (his ex) in bed with another guy. It broke his heart to know that someone he loved, that he gave his whole heart too could be so heartless like that. 

Both of them sat there staring outside as the pain of losing someone they loved was slowly eating away at them. Although Caleb had moved on from that, it still hurt sometimes to know that he wasn't good enough. Just as the cafe was closing up Caleb asked Yo if he wanted a lift back to his dorm. Yo thanked Caleb for the offer but declined, saying he was just going to stay at a hotel tonight since his cheating boyfriend lived in the same dorm. Caleb had only just met the boy but he felt he couldn't let him stay in a hotel so he offered up his guest room for the night. Yo was very hesitant at first, but seeing as Caleb only wanted to help him he finally agreed. He thought it wouldn't hurt, at least he wouldn't risk running into Pha. After Caleb had shown Yo the guest room and given him a change of clothes to sleep in Yo took a short shower and went straight to bed, falling asleep almost instantly. 

Yo woke up the next day in a strange place, temporarily forgetting he had decided to crash at Caleb's for the night. When he came to his senses he smelt such a wondrous scent coming from the kitchen and after freshening up quickly headed off into that direction. As he walked in he noticed Caleb cooking pancakes and humming to a BTS song. Caleb, upon noticing Yo's arrival gestured him to take a seat and handed him a stack of freshly made pancakes. While eating breakfast Yo went to check his phone, remembering he had turned it off last night. He saw numerous texts and missed calls from both Pha and Beam. Ignoring anything from Pha, Yo decided to call Beam telling him that he was fine and stayed over at a friends place and that he didn't need to worry about him, that he would be back to his dorm room later today. 

Beam was relieved to hear nothing had happened to Yo. He was worried that he might of gotten into an accident or some guy may have tried to come after him. They talked for a few more minutes before Beam hung up saying he had to get to class. Caleb was glad that Yo had called him his friend, they only met last night but Caleb felt drawn to Yo, like they were destined to find each other. Following breakfast Caleb insisted to drive Yo back to his dorm. Once they had arrived back Caleb asked if he could have Yo's number, stating he would love to be friends with him, since he didn't have many friends around his age. Yo happily gave him his number then exited the vehicle and headed back to his room.
