Third Person
Peridot looks down as Lapis looks worried.
"No- Peridot... I didn't mean it like that..." Lapis says apologetically. Peridot continues to look down until Lapis touches her chin up so they could face each other which makes Peridot blush deeply.
"I know you didn't." Peridot says before putting Lapis' hand away to walk home.
"Peridot!" Lapis says as Peridot stops once more.
"I-I..." Lapis stutters as Peridot turns around then looks Lapis dead in the eye. Lapis rubs her arms.
"I need a walking home buddy..." Lapis says and gives Peridot the puppy eyes. Peridot stumbles back. I can't resist those eyes for some reason... Peridot thinks inside her mind. She then sighs in defeat then nods annoyed. Lapis jumps in joy as she catches up to Peridot. She acts so childish... It's so... cute... Peridot thinks.
As they walk outside of the school premises, Lapis gets a phone call. Peridot waits as Lapis takes the phone call.
Lapis' POV
"Be right back Peridot!" I say before leaving to take the phone call. Peridot nods at me. I answer the phone call.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Sweetie, we have a problem back at home." Mom says.
"Why? What's wrong?"
"Dad's been having his drinking problems and threatens to hurt you. You'll have to stay somewhere safe."
"For how long?"
"For as long as we can get this problem fixed up. Sweetie, I don't know how long it will take but, do mommy a favor."
"Yes?" I said sniffing.
"Mommy loves you, stay far away from the house for now as I will deal with this... You know your mommy was in the Navy, I'll be strong so don't worry about me okay? Mommy's gotta go now, love you!" She then hangs up the call. I sob and kneel down in defeat behind the bush.
Peridot's POV
I hear sobs coming from the bush. I walk over to check it out to find Lapis crying on her knees with her face covered by her hands. I never knew she could be so hopeless. She's very optimistic and... cute.
"Lapis, you alright?" I ask then put my hand on her back to comfort her.
Third Person
Peridot pats Lapis to comfort her as Lapis falls into Peridot's arms. Peridot catches her.
"I just feel numb..." Lapis says looking at Peridot. Peridot suddenly feels sorry for Lapis. Lapis tries to get up but gives up at the amount of crying she just went through. Peridot notices then carries her bridal style, adding weight to her backpack and guitar case. She also grabs Lapis' backpack.
"Come on, you can tell me along the way..." Peridot says while walking to the neighborhood.
"Peridot?" Lapis asks tired looking into Peridot's eyes with bloodshot eyes.
"Yes, Lapis?"
"Can I stay at your house?"
"Sure. As long as you like if that makes you feel better..." Peridot says walking to her house. Lapis smiles as she wraps her arms around Peridot's neck. Peridot blushes then reaches the house.
