Faster Car/Fireflies

6:30 PM

They both clean and pack up their things to put in the trunk of the convertible.

"I want to take you somewhere, if that's okay with you." Peridot says starting the car. Lapis nods.

Peridot starts driving out of the beach area to the grassy cliffs area. It's a long road so, she turns on the speakers of the car and plays an instrumental of a guitar strumming. Lapis looks over at Peridot and smiles then looks back at the endless road. Peridot presses Auto-Pilot on the car and starts to sing.

1, 2, 1 2 3...

Peridot kicks back, puts her feet on her dash and looks up at the night sky.

I've been feeling so small
Watch the clock ticking off the wall
But tonight I'm letting it go
Spend my coin for show

Lapis kicks up and pushes the chair back to relax as well, she looks up at the night sky.

Lapis makes a little drum pattern on the side of the car door.

Peridot then looks at Lapis who starts to continue on the song.

The car stops on a grassy cliff overviewing the lit city. It's quite a sight to see.

The instrumental stops. They both look at the view then look at each other. They both lean in then start a make out session.  

7:00 PM

After constant flirting, kissing, and viewing the city from the cliff... They jump out of the car, and roll down the grassy hill to welcome them both to even more fields of grass. Fireflies circle Lapis and Peridot. Lapis holds out her hands and cups them together to have a couple of fireflies rest on Lapis' hands. Lapis starts singing again.

You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep

Peridot warmly smiles and lets Lapis continue to sing with her angelic voice.

'Cause they fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude but I would just stand and stare

Lapis looks down at her hands noticing the pretty fireflies innocently looking up at Lapis.

I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems

Peridot looks at Lapis, who's having fun with the fireflies. She smiles again.

'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance

The cute fireflies do a little boogie dance, Lapis lets go of the fireflies and smiles cheerfully.

A foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread (thread, thread)

Peridot then joins in the singing.

Leave my door open just a crack

To ten million fireflies
I'm weird cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell (said farewell)

Most of the fireflies leave, but some stay, circling around Peridot and Lapis. Peridot grabs out a jar.

But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar (jar, jar)

Lapis catches some in a jar. The fireflies seem to be happy in the jar. Lapis hugs Peridot while singing. They start heading back to the car, with Lapis holding the jar of fireflies.

The car drives away back home, Peridot takes the wheel. They both head home, happy, excited, and curious to see what waits ahead of them.
