I am A-Gore-Phobic. This refers to not being able to handle gore. I can handle most things. What I can't handle is hardcore, sadistic, sexual gore. I mean abusing the mouth or sexual organs until they bleed or are mangled/disfigured to death. Beheading someone while fucking their ass until it bleeds...yeah no.
Some people are into that. Hey, rock on. Absolutely NO JUDGEMENT. I just can't take it. I implore writers to properly label their shit. Don't tell us it's bdsm (or whatever) and not put a DARK/TRIGGER/SEXUAL GORE/SEXUAL VIOLENCE/RAPE label/tag on it. Warn a mofo what they are running into.
I've been deceived several times into stories with no proper labels or warning to be hit with these situations. It just does something to me where I end up watching PewDie Pie or MarkiPlier with my kids eating flaming cheetos to regain some sanity.
Other things irk me about labels.
1-Wrong use of acronyms. If I'm looking for a bmwm/bmam/bmlm or wmbm/wmam/wmlm -someone tell me why I get stories that have women in them? BM-black man, AM-asian man, WM-white man, LM-latino man (or male). I thought we all knew this.
2-Age gap label. Perhaps because I'm an old bird this bugs me. 5 years is not age gap in my humblest opinion. There isn't much difference between a 15 yr old and a 20yr old (except legality), 20 yr old and a 25 yr old, or a 35 yr old and a 40 yr old. Age gap to me (and probably most people my age) is 10 or more years.
3-Label doesn't match the story. Example: I was looking for fatherxson stories. I read a bunch. Several started out with the son/father getting together then the son left the father for someone else. Betrayal much! If the story isn't about their relationship drop the durn label and at least give people a heads up in the summary.
Also, I like poly/polyamory/threesome/foursome/moresome stories. If your story has that, put a tag in there. I'm looking for YOU. If you have male harem stories or female harem stories, put that tag in there. Oh, but not triangles. Those force someone to choose one over another. I'm not bout that life. Share the love.
There's more. I'm probably being petty. So what. I can be. So can you. What are some things that bug you about labels?
