Maybe I'm just a dry old lady. I believe in the power of imagination. I like letting my imagination conjure up an image based off the clues the author gives me to what a person, setting or item looks like.
Nothing grates my nerves more than when pictures are embedded in a story. I'm not talking about at the top or at the bottom. Like the whole chapter is text- image- text- image- text- image.
It's jarring and takes away from the story. The power of vocabulary is such that you should be able to DESCRIBE whatever it is you want to and not have to resort to google images.
Maybe some people like picture books. What do I know?
