Alaska's P.O.V
"I got you your favourite"
Conor places the bags of magic stars and Wispa bites down on the side, sinking down on the edge of the bed.
"Thank you"
I grab his hand, the coldness of his fingers making me shiver. It had definitely started to get chilly outside now that it was September.
"I'll go and fill this back up for you and then we can cuddle"
He winks, picking up the now cold hot water bottle from the floor, my hand slowly leaving his.
A few months ago this hadn't even been a thing. Period pains had never troubled me before yet since the abortion had it only gotten worse.
Each period more painful than the last one.Now it'd come to the point that I'm not even able to work for a few days each month, having to rely on painkillers and Conor to take care of me.
"Is it worse than last time?"
I nod, a single tear making its way down my cheek as the pain makes a comeback. My fingers gripping the sheet convulsively.
"Time again?"
He doesn't wait for an answer, moving across the room to embrace me in his strong arms.
"You should honestly check this up with a doctor baby"
Nodding do I bite my lip, a slight worry growing in my stomach as I think about stuff that could be wrong.
.....
*Three weeks later*
"There are some things we'd like to talk to you about. Maybe you could bring a friend or a partner with you"
The phone call with the nurse had occupied my mind for the last few days. It'd been very unexpected, one day they just called, told me they'd seen some abnormalities in my blood works. She hadn't been able to tell me why it was so urgent or why I had to come to the hospital to get the results. Still, it'd worried me sick knowing something could be wrong.
"Yeah, yeah, of course. No, I'm flying over today. Yeah you don't have to worry, I've got everything under control"
Conor gives me a quick wink, a small smile on his lips as he talks to his manager.
He'd be flying over to Amsterdam later on today and as much as I'd like to come with him do I know that I'm busy with shoots for the rest of the week.
"Pete says hi by the way"
I nod, leaning my head against the car window, Conor's silent humming almost making me cry.
"Babe I'm sure this is just a routine check-up. You don't have to be worried about it"
He leans over to grab my hand, his thumb stroking my knuckles as he pulls up on the car park outside the large hospital.
I hope he's right, still, something's telling me he isn't, the way I'd been feeling so tired lately, the way my body felt weaker than ever before.
His hand finds mine as we walk in through the large double doors together and then I just zone out. I let Conor lead me everywhere, I let him speak to the nurses, to the doctors.
Yet he doesn't complain, a large smile plastered on his face as we walk through the corridors. He jokes around with people, yet keeps my hand in his, never failing to lose contact for even one single second.
"So do you know why you're here?"
The young male doctor makes me shift my eyes from Conor and I shake my head. I didn't have a clue.
