I decided to see if Riley knew anything about it. "Morning Riley!" I said as I bounded over to him.
"Morning Lindsay." he said back.
"What are you doing out here Ri?"
"Ri? Only Mrs. Halloran (one of the English teachers) ever called me that."
"I thought I'd give it try, I prefer Riley."
"Me too."
"Hey Riley,"
"Yeah?"
"Do you know anything about the scratches on Toby’s neck?" I asked him.
Riley's eyes opened wide in surprise, "What scratches? What did he tell you about them? Did you ask?" he asked quickly and his voice sounded anxious.
"Woah Riley! Slow down! When I asked Toby about the scratches, he just kept saying it was nothing and stormed off. Are you sure you don't know anything?"
"I don't know anything. I'm gonna go talk to him." answered Riley as he walked away.
