Toby’s POV
"So you DO love Riley?" I asked her when she came back to me.
"What?!" She seemed surprised again.
"I saw you hugging Riley but I'm fine if you like him." I got a little tenser as I mentioned this. Of course I wasn’t fine with it, but I accepted it.
"Yes I LIKE him, but I like you more. I’m really sorry.” Then she changes the subject, “Let's see if you can stand up.”
"Babe, with your love, I can do anything." I said in sort of a gangster kind of voice, which made her smile. I pushed on the ground and moved my body about a half of a foot up when my arms gave out. I thumped to the ground and it knocked the breath out of me. I couldn't breathe for about 2 seconds and I gasped for air.
"Toby! Are you okay?"
"Can't breathe! Can't breathe!"
"You're going to be okay, you'll be ok!" Then I passed out. All I heard was Lindsay yelling for Riley.
Day 5- Thursday
When I awoke, it was dark and I was still lying on the grass. I felt something on my chest and something next to my face; it was Lindsay. She had her hand on my chest and she was snuggled up to my side. But what was next to her? Or who? It was Riley. He was holding Lindsay in his arms and we all had a blanket draped over us.
"Lindsay," I whispered, “Lindsay."
"What?" she said sleepily, "Toby? You're awake! I thought you might've been seriously hurt. But I didn't give up all hope. I think Riley might’ve knocked something loose in your head!" she put her arms around me and I put mine around her. She started to cry. "I shouldn't have tried to get you to stand up! Your body wasn’t ready!" Lindsay cried softly.
"It's not your fault. You just wanted to get me up and moving.” "Oh Lindsay, I care about you so much. Please stop crying, it's not your fault." I comforted her.
"It's not just that. It's that I'm in the embrace of two boy...I mean, men, who care about me and just want to protect me! This all happened because of me! I should've just lied and said I didn't like either of you two." She started to sob now.
"What's going on? Lindsay? Are you crying?" Asked Riley.
