Right Back At Cha

The next morning, Callie went through her normal routine, and did her best not to think about Sassy or Caleb. The movie night had really helped Sassy, and Callie wanted to stay positive for her.  She drove to work, and when she reached Swimming is Cool, her boss, Sam, was waiting for her.

“ Morning Sam.”

“Callie, you can’t keep avoiding me. I need an answer. Will you go on a date with me? I will not wait any more.” Sam said impatiently, desperately wanting her to say yes.

“ Sam, I know that you are only three years older than me, but you are my boss. I don’t want to take that chance with you. I don’t want to make our friendship awkward. I have had that happen too many times. And I also have another guy that has caught my attention. Sorry, but I would really just like to stay friends.” Callie replied looking at her feet to avoid his pleading stare.

“I figured that you would say that; because, you avoided me and took so long to give me an answer.” Sam was disappointed but he knew that asking her on a date was not good for the boss/employee relationship. He handed her the schedule for the day. Because it was Monday, the day was not going to be that busy. Yet, at the end of the day, Callie had her lesson with Zayn, who had showed up to the lesson alone. Callie thought that maybe she had done something wrong to make Louis not go to the lesson, but she pushed the thought from her mind. Her lesson with Zayn went normally, but her mind kept wondering to Louis and what she had maybe done wrong. Finally, she just confronted Zayn, “Hey, I thought Louis was coming to the lesson. Did I do something wrong? Is he hurt or something? He hasn’t missed a lesson to tan.”

“Louis is busy comforting Harry. Something happened between Harry and Sassy, and last night Harry wanted to talk to her. But Sassy gave him no chance, so both of them were tense. Did you notice that?”

“Yes, I did. That was weird. Normally, Sassy tells me these things. I wonder what happened. And I really thought that I had done something wrong to make Louis miss this lesson.”

“Oh, no. He likes you, and He wants me to tell you that he is going to call you later tonight. So are we done for the day?” Zayn said this hoping that she would not make him swim the cool down.

“Smooth boy, you think you are so smooth. Nope. Swim your cool down. 200 freestyle. Go as slow as you want, but I can tell you want to get out of here. So just do a 100.” Zayn pushed off the wall, ready to leave. Callie and Zayn hugged and said goodbye. Callie drove home, planning to make a Sassy’s favorite dish. As she was driving home, her phone rang.

“Hello.”

“Hey.” Louis replied from the other end of the line, and Callie’s heart started fluttering as if he were right in front of her.

“What’s up?” Callie asked casually.

“Oh just thinking about this pretty girl that I want to take on a date with me tonight.” Louis said nonchalantly. Callie’s heart dropped to her toes.

“Well, I hope that you have a good time with her.” Callie was about to hang up, but then Louis started yelling, “ Can I pick you up at 7:30?” Callie’s heart soared in happiness.

“That would be great! Will see you then.” Callie could barely hold her excitement inside herself; she wanted to scream.

“ Bye.” And Louis hung up. Callie sped home. She ran into the house screaming, “I have a date with Louis tonight! I need help finding what to wear! Help! SOS!” she sprinted up the stairs followed by Michaela and Lizzy. The girls helped Callie spruce up, and at 7:30 Callie was close to being ready. Lizzy ran down to greet Louis and talk to him in the living room so that e wouldn’t feel awkward waiting for Callie alone. Michaela put on the finishing touches to Callie and then pronounced her ready. Callie’s hair was curled to give her hair a nice wave, and her makeup was done to look natural. She was wearing an off the shoulder navy dress with red heels and clutch. Callie walked down the stairs, as if she were in a movie. When Louis saw her, his face lit up. He was in a navy suit with a white button down shirt and red striped shirt.

Callie thought she was the luckiest girl in the world as he thought he was the luckiest boy in the world.

“You look beautiful. You took my breath away when you came into the room. And not one person could look away, you were that stunning.” Louis whispered in her ear as he was leading her out to his car.

“ Right back at cha.” Callie said looking at Louis and just wondering what she did to deserve to be flattered by this handsome guy she was going on a date with.
