The next day was Monday, but thankfully, Sam gave Callie the day off due to the situation with Piper. Cooper had informed her that having a schedule would be good for Piper. So although she had the day off, Callie got out of bed as she would for a normal day. Louis had slept on the couch, and left before Callie got up. He had to do a couple interviews about the upcoming album. Callie went into the nursery and got baby Piper. Piper Blair was born November 19, 2011 at 2:23 p.m. to Josie Mae Ferguson. She was born 6lbs 3 oz. Callie marveled at the beautiful girl, and she picked up the waking baby. Callie dressed Piper in a pink sundress and changed the diaper. Piper seemed confused and was hesitant to embrace Callie, but Callie was not offended. Piper’s mother was gone, and Piper could not truly understand what had happened. The environment was completely different. Callie put Piper in the highchair in the kitchen that Louis had set up before leaving. She walked to the refrigerator and got a low milk yogurt that Michaela likes. She also poured a few cheerios in front of Piper. She watched Piper play with the cheerios then eat them, and Callie spoon fed Piper some of the yogurt, thinking that it may be helpful to go shopping for baby food and other essentials, although Jose seemed prepared. Sassy came downstairs and played with Piper a little bit, while Piper was still in her high chair. Sassy made peek-a-boo faces to make Piper giggle. This was the first time that Callie had seen Piper smile and laugh. Sassy left, and Michaela came into the kitchen. Michaela looked in the refrigerator and asked, “Where’s my last yogurt?”

“Oh. I took it. Sorry. I needed something to feed Piper, but you can have a banana.”

“Fine.”

“Ooh, and get me one too.” Michaela grabbed the bananas, handed one to Callie, and walked out the door to a cab waiting outside. Michaela still was in shock about the baby, but Callie was a good fit to be a mother. Callie smashed the banana that she was given and fed it to Piper. She really seemed to like the banana. To finish the breakfast, Callie made some formula in a bottle. But Piper refused the formula. So Callie put it in the refrigerator. She cleaned Piper’s dirty face and bib, and then cleaned the messy area around the baby. Callie picked up Piper and took her upstairs to play with a few toys while Callie took inventory of the toys so that Callie would have an idea what she needs. She sat Piper in the crib and gave her a few toys. Callie grabbed a pad and a pen and started going through Piper’s belongings. After about an hour, Piper was getting cranky, so Callie removed the toys from the crib, laid Piper down, and put a blanket over her. Callie left the room and turned the light off. Immediately, Callie heard Piper crying, but Callie, from all her years of babysitting, knew that the crying would stop in a few minutes. Hearing her cry broke Callie’s heart; she yearned to comfort the baby. But she withheld herself, and soon enough, Piper stopped crying. Downstairs the baby monitor was silent, and Callie knew all was well.

In the hour that Piper was napping, Callie did laundry and straightened up the house. As soon as the hour was up, Callie went upstairs to get Piper. She woke the sleeping baby and put white sandals on the small baby’s feet. She packed a diaper bag with diapers, wipes, a cloth, and a toy. Using the diaper bag as a purse, Callie threw her wallet, license, and phone into the side pocket of the bag. Callie picked up the car seat and the baby; she set up the car seat and put Piper in her Jeep Liberty. Her car was really old, but it had character. Callie carefully drove to … She took Piper out of the seat and walked in. The store was huge, but Callie knew where to get everything. She got baby food like carrots, potatoes, green beans, peas, applesauce, peaches, chicken, beef, and plums. Callie also got her normal groceries. She also bought in bulk detergent, diapers, and wipes, soap, shampoo both baby and adult, and corner protectors. Callie also bought a soft pink pallet for playtime. The grocery store bill was about twice as much, because of Piper. Callie drove home, as Piper was getting cranky. Callie decided that it was lunchtime for piper. So as soon as they arrived home, Callie put Piper in the high chair and fed her lunch. After lunch, Piper took another nap, and Callie unloaded the groceries. After Piper’s second nap, Callie laid the pallet down and played with Piper. Since Piper was now Callie’s daughter, Callie really wanted to get to know the baby. Piper was a happy girl, and she really seemed to enjoy a stuffed dog. Babbling, piper would put the small dog in her mouth, and no matter how many times Callie pulled the dog from her mouth, Piper always put it back in. Callie read Polar Bear, Polar Bear to Piper. “Hey Cals, I brought something for Piper. Bring that adorable little girl down. I wanna give it to her!” Sassy screamed from downstairs, startling Callie.
