Reagan POV

“Where were you, Reagan?”

Suddenly, I felt like a child that had snuck in after curfew and had to deal with the overbearing father. But, Louis wasn’t my dad, and he definitely wasn’t going to treat me like a child.

“I was out”, I responded, “Who wants to know?”

“Don’t play dumb. Where were you? Where’s your car?”

I didn’t even have time to answer him because as I walked into the house, I saw a very familiar, and very unwelcome, face sitting on the couch. I almost lunged at her.

“Kai? What are you doing in my house?”

“I was-.”

“You know what? I don’t even care”, I said, flipping my hair over my shoulder, “I came to see my children. Continue whatever it was that you two were doing.”

“Reagan-.”

Pulling my arm out of Louis’s grip, I began to walk up the stairs. I heard him follow me, but I kept walking.

“Reagan, just stop.”

“Honestly, Louis I don’t care. I told you why I came here. You really don’t have to explain yourself.”

“Nothing happened between us. She just came over to discuss a work issue with me.”

My face remained passive. I was telling the truth. I really didn’t care that he had moved on. It annoyed me more who it was with, but then again, who was I to talk?

“Like I said, Louis, I don’t care. You’re grown. You can do whatever you want.”

“Still. I just feel like you should know. Where were you last night?”

“I was at Zayn’s.”

I didn’t know where lying was going to get me, but I was sure going to try. I didn’t feel like seeing that judgmental look on his face or hearing an ‘I told you so’.

“That’s a lie”, Louis folded his arms, “I called him. Of course he tried to cover for you once he find out why I was calling, but I saw through his lie.”

“You were spying on me?”

“No, conceited. I was worried. You left here pissed off and didn’t come back. I thought that something had happened. I didn’t know that something was infidelity.”

Infidelity?! You and I aren’t even together!”

“We’re still married”, he smiled, smugly, “So, sleeping with someone else does count as cheating.”

“We’re legally separated, and I no longer wear my ring. Even so, don’t even try to make me seem like the bad guy here. You checked out of this marriage well before I did. Excuse me for catching up.”

I tried to lower my voice so the twins wouldn’t here or Kai downstairs, but I was a little miffed. He was such a dick.

“Were you two even safe? Knowing you, that’s a valid question”.

“I’m on the pill. He knows that, and so do you”, I rolled my eyes.

“Well, you’re walking just fine. So, obviously he didn’t do something right”.

That irked me. I hadn’t said anything negative about Kai, and yet he has the right to insult the person that I want?

“Mad that he’s accomplishing something that you aren’t?”
